I woke up at 5:30, as usual. I glared at the sunlight streaming through the window. Last night was...disappointing. My muscles were slightly sore and surprisingly, I wasn't in the mood for my usual morning run. I rolled out of bed and padded into the bathroom, stifling a yawn. After a quick shower and a brush of my teeth, I slid open my wardrobe.

What to wear? What to wear?

I picked out a pair of skinny grey jeans and a tight fitting navy blue singlet. I pulled my hair into a high pony tail and pulled on my boots. Slinging my Nike bag over my shoulder and grabbing my phone and ipod, I went downstairs. I glanced surrepticiously at my phone, noting with a twinge of disappointment that Phil had not messaged me. Perhaps I'd been completely interpreting his actions wrong. Mentally chastising myself, I shoved my phone deep into my pocket, swearing not to touch it before midday. I gave my mum a hug and a kiss on the cheek and slipped out the door.

"Ellaaa!" I heard someone squeal as I walked into the corridor. I winced and turned. Lisa's bright brown eyes smiled up at me

"Hey Lis, what's up?" I asked, opening my locker and grabbing my books.

"Ok ok, so yesterday I did some research! And guess who's in your HPE class!" she squealed, doing a on the spot happy dance. My heart dropped

"Nooooo" I moaned, rolling my eyes "Why? Why me?"

Lisa scowled at me.

"You know, you should consider yourself lucky! So many girls are actually joining HPE in the hopes that they'll get in your class! I'm even considering it, and I'm the worst at sport!" she said, rolling her eyes at me.

I rolled my eyes but said nothing. Honestly, Lisa was boy-crazy.

Far too soon for my liking, the bell rang and I let out a long groan. First up today? Sport.

I trudged to the sport's hall, hoping that there had been some sort of mistake and that there weren't any new boys in my class.

Ha, fat chance. Lisa is always up to date on her gossip.

As I slipped into the hall, 2 sets of eyes, one blue and one brown swiveled to mine. Oh no, it would've been too nice to have just one in my class, I had to have both of them! They smirked at me, as if they could sense my frustration. I glared at them and stalked to the change rooms. Since my athletic ability was pretty good, none of my friends were in my HPE class. The majority of them were boys. I slipped on my half-sleeved shirt, shorts and Nikes. Chucking my bag roughly onto the bench, I stalked back into the hall, my glare zeroing in on the two boys. Today I was totally gonna get them back for their stupid play-ups yesterday.

"Alright class! So today, we're just going to be playing dodgeball, I don't feel too well. Sorry guys" said the teacher, leaning against the wall. There were a few groans and a few cheers. We spilt into two teams, thankfully neither of the annoying boys on mine, and spread out in our side of the court. As the teacher blew the whistle, students rushed forward to grab the balls in the centre. I stayed behind, knowing there'd be plenty of balls later...

In the end, it was Jayden, Lachlan, and some other guy named Sam versus Harris and lucky old me. I picked up a  ball and pegged it at Jayden. Stupid jock. He dodged and smirked back at me, bending to pick up the ball.

Harry got out Sam.

Lachlan got out Harry.

And then it was just me versus the two douches. Just my luck...

I glared at Lachlan and squeezing the ball in my right hand, pegged it at Lachlan's back as he bent to pick up the ball.

My aim doesn't miss. Lachlan cried out as the ball hit his butt and he was send sprawling forwards. Everyone laughed, me and Jayden included. Lachlan stood up, his cheeks bright red. He glared at me and stormed off the court, rubbing his butt.

I turned back to Jayden. My smile slipped off as I saw the bright blue ball hurtling right at my face. I cried out, dropping to the floor and quickly rolling back onto my feet. Luckily, I didn't get hit, but unfortunately, my evasion seemed to make Jayden more determined to win.

"Just give up Ella, you can't beat me" he called, a smirk on his beautiful face. I scowled at him and lobbed a few more balls at his head. He retaliated with several more back to me. It went on like this for a few more minutes, neither of us hitting the other.

Then, suddenly, as Jayden's ball flew towards me, I felt something hit the back of my head. I blinked furiously and half turned before Jayden's ball hit me right in the cheek. I felt the world blur and I the floor came up to slap me.

**

I woke up in the sick room. And damn, my face hurt like a bitch. I sat quickly, wincing as my head spun. I felt my mouth dry slightly as I took in the white walls, smell of antiseptic and cleanliness of the room.

"How are you feeling darl?" I turned to face the kind looking nurse sitting at her desk. I forced a smile

"Oh, great. Can I go now?" I asked, eager to get out of the room.

"Are you sure dear? You should probably stay a little longer..." the lady trailed off, her face full of concern.

"Yeah, I'm great. I just need some fresh air" I said as sweetly as my impatience would allow.

"Alright dear but make sure you-"

I didn't hear the rest of what she said as I bolted out the door. Seriously, hospitals and the smell of antiseptics bought back bad memories.

I suppressed a shudder as I walked briskly to the cafeteria where everyone was already mid-way through their lunch. As I walked in, I immediately spotted the bastards sitting at the jock table, surrounded by the usual crowd of girls. I scowled as they looked up. What douches, I held my head up high and stalked to my table making sure to avoid eye contact with them at all costs.

As I slumped into my seat, Lisa placed a perfectly manicured hand on my shoulder.

"Hey hun, I heard about you getting knocked out in PE" she said with a sympathetic smile

"Don't worry El, soon instead of knocked out, it'll be knocked up" cracked Nat, grinning wickedly. I glared at her and gave her a light shove.

"Are you feeling better?" asked Gilly, who was the only one who actually looked mildly concerned. I grunted, suddenly getting nervous as I spotted the Jayden get up from his table and head over here.

I felt my scowl return as he stopped beside me, a girl clinging onto his arm.

"Hey Ella, are you alright?" his deep voice asked "I'm sorry about your head and all" he added with a laugh. The girl with his glared at me through her blonde bangs.

"S'alright" I mumbled, slightly touched by the fact he'd come over to ask if I was alright.

"JayJay, can we go now?" the girl whined, tugging on his arm and pouting. He smiled at her and gave her a quick kiss

"Sure baby" he cooed letting her drag him back over to their table. He looked back over his shoulder at me

"And um, yeah...sorry about Lachie hitting you in the head and all that" he grinned cockily before turning away. I felt my lip twitch as I glared at his back. What? His brother couldn't even say he was sorry himself. I knew it was him who hit me in the back of the head to distract me. Sore loser!

I snapped back to the present as Lisa practically squealed in my ear.

"That was so cute" she gushed, rolling her eyes "He's so sweet! He came over to ask if you were ok!"

I felt my cheeks heat up slightly. It was actually quite thoughtful...

"I can't believe Hilary has snagged him already" said Nat dejectedly, looking longingly at the girl on Jayden's arm.

I tuned out the rest of their conversation, nodding occasionally. My eyes were still stuck on Jayden. Why had he come over to apologise slash ask me if I was alright? Any normal jerk would've just laughed in my face. Just as I was frowning at him kiss Hilary on the cheek, he looked up, his striking brown eyes catching mine. I looked away quickly, feeling my face heat up slightly.

Damn, what was this boy doing to me?
