I woke up feeling sore as hell. I'd slept in an awkward position and my neck was currently killing me. With a groan and a rub of my tired eyes, I rolled over. I felt movement beside me and I turned slowly, suddenly wide awake. Phil was sprawled half on the bed, half off, breathing lightly. Last night came rushing back.
I felt a stab in my chest as I remembered Phil's pain. I glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table, squinting through its shattered glass face.
I swore as I realised I only had 15 minutes before school started. I slid off the bed and grabbed my phone off the floor.

I winced as I read Mum's last message. Urgh, she was totally gonna give me weird lectures on safe sex when I get home. I glanced at Phil who was still sleeping. He'd understand. Slipping on my shoes, I jogged down the stairs, letting myself out.
As soon as I hit the road, I started running.
13 minutes till school started. As I sprinted down the street, I dialled my mum's number. She picked up on the second ring
"Hey honey! Did you have FUN last night?" I could hear her giggling.
"We didn't even mum. Stop being gross. Anyways I was wondering if you...maybe wanted to give me a lift to school?" I asked, crossing my fingers.
"Oh damn. I just reached work...do you want me to come back?" she asked
I sighed and sped up. The chances of me making it to school on time were...slim...
And I'd worked so hard on getting perfect attendance this year...
"Nah, that's alright. See you later mum. Bye" I hung up quickly before she could tease me anymore, slipping my phone into my tight jean pocket.
10 minutes.
Once I reached my driveway, I climbed nimbly over the side gate and up the tree, slipping into my room. I grabbed my school bag and slung it over my shoulder, jumping out the window without hesitation.
8 minutes
Why am I even trying? I asked myself as I vaulted over the fence again and landed firmly on my feet. Being athletic and part of a gang did have some perks believe it or not.
I sprinted back down the street again, swearing repeatedly.
And you know how I mentioned someone clearly was out to drive me into an early grave? Well they hit jackpot again cause just as I glanced up from the road, I tripped on my undone laces.
And lucky me, fell right into someone's chest.
Scrap that.Two people's chest.
I let out a gasp as strong biceps grabbed my forearms, steadying me. I looked up and saw my two favourite people in the world. Kill me now.
"Woah, stalking us already Ella?" Lachlan's teasing voice greeted me. I groaned, it was way too early in the morning to deal with these infuriating brothers. My scowl slid over to Jayden. He was standing there, looking bored. I searched his face, for any sort of clue as to what the hell happened yesterday. He raised an eyebrow and I switched my gaze back to Lachlan quickly.
