There had been a beautiful, magical rain which signified the start of a beautiful dawn. I'd just got up from bed after having woken up. Li had been sleeping next to me because she'd told me, her home had been destroyed. No matter what, she'd find ways to rebuild it after the swamp had ended. Walking over to the open narrow window, I'd found that the white silk curtain had been let loose. The fun of it being held to one side was gone, however that meant the swamp was going to end, because the swamp people had been killed to produce these curtains.

The lotus flowers could be seen on the pond, the turquoise blue glass pond. The sparkles were just real, and by the light inside, I could see that it was a blue siren who'd recently came inside the pond. Li loved sirens and told me she'd read about them. Moving to our bed, I picked up a feather and tickled Li's neck with it. She jolted up.

"Relax! Relax..." I whispered.
"I've giving you work to do. In a list." Handing over a list to Li, I made a serious face.
"You need to do this for the palace. I've heard that you were a responsible young woman who reads books, tidied the king's seat. Keep it up." I whispered into her ear.
Li nodded.
"Thanks, sir," She said and got to work.

At the dining room, one of the teenage girls came towards Li who was cooking the meal, which was boiled salmon over mushroom and caviar. "Excuse me, but the caviar should be boiled up to 100 degrees." She said as an order.
Li nodded. "Understood."

I watched Li carefully, as she worked. She served at least every one of the palace but her? Her own body slowly rotted away. When she collapsed in my arms, tears brimmed in my eyes.

How could I have been so blind? She might die!

I took Li's own body to the care room and poured some of the healing potion to her and lay by her side for one hour. Her condition was severe.
Feeling too worried, I cried into her chest and kissed her lightly on her lips. Then, I took her by the arms and wept, wept quietly in her chest.

After some time, Li's eyes opened.
She stroked one of her hands on my hair. Hearing my deep sobbing, she whispered, "Don't be sad...please don't cry..."
I looked up. Li was awake. She sighed and wiped my tears from my eyes.
"Thanks," She whispered. "For saving me."
I nodded. It was nothing... I said quietly.
"Would you like to eat something?" Then I suggested lovingly. "Your weight shrunk. Almost skin and bones..." Shaking my head, I got up to walk to the dining room to bring Li something. "You're so thin. At least the work didn't take a toll on you?" I looked back. Li shook her head.
"Li, why did you become like this? Why is this happening to you?" I almost cried out.
