I felt my muscles unwind as I soaked in the hot water. I was still drowning in his kiss. Every kiss from him introduces me to different shades of his soul. I'd never meet someone who could enrage me and ice me out at the same time. He was scary today, but not enough to scare me away.

I would have misunderstood him if I hadn't met him before or known what a lovely person he is. I understand his actions; even my wolf was upset at the prospect of leaving his side. She couldn't comprehend the fact that we don't belong here. The mate bond is pushing us together, but our hearts have not healed. I couldn't accept him for what he did.

My wolf wished to give him a chance. An opportunity to clarify his comments. It would have been better if we had ended it peacefully instead of running away. But I was so vulnerable at that moment; fleeing was a natural choice.

I came out of the bathroom and put on a pair of sweats and a shirt. Luckily, he got my bags in here, so I don't have to worry. I looked for a hairdryer but couldn't find one so I let my hair dry on its own. Meanwhile, my stomach grumbled, and I left the room to go get something from the kitchen.

I managed to find coco puffs and pulled open the fridge for milk. I can see cartons of unopened ice cream. I didn't know who was fond of ice cream in this household, but it felt sweet. I grabbed the milk and vanilla ice cream when I heard someone cough in the background. I jumped at the voice and slumped the door with more force than was necessary.

I turned to see the houseowner holding a whiskey glass. It's a little early for drinks, but who am I to tell him. "Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you," he mumbled. I shrugged and settled into a chair on the island, pouring myself a glass of milk with coco puffs and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

He retrieved a bowl and spoon as he strolled by the kitchen island. "May I have a scoop of vanilla?" he inquired as he pushed it toward me. I served him a scoop, pushing it to him while I dipped my spoon for a taste. "That's a weird combo," he said, pointing his fingers towards my bowl.

"You don't know that. Unless you try it." I moved my bowl closer to him. "You want me to try it " his gaze filled with a flirtatious smile. I scowled at him, wondering why I'd give him that. He looked at me as he took a bite. He had my spoon wedged between his mouth and those irresistible lips. I hitched a breath as a vision of something else trapped there raced through my filthy mind. How does he turn an ice cream scoop into a sexy object? This is the trance I live in. I fail to comprehend the allure that he possesses. Does the mating bond have this effect on me?

I was about to reach for my bowl of cereal and ice cream when he took it away. "You are right. It is really good. Can you take mine? I like to have this," said with a wide grin on his face. I thought to wipe that grin off his face. It can melt anyone to mushy and tender. He finished off my bowl of cereal and ice cream like a child, pushing his bowl to me. I couldn't escape the warmth of this feeling that evoked in me as I watched him.

"Your hair is wet," his fingers trailed through my wet hair. He might have noticed it dripping water when he went to wash the bowl in the kitchen sink. "I didn't find a dryer in my room," I said.

"I'll get mine. You can use it " he said as he sprinted to his room. I finished my ice cream while my eyes glanced at the beautiful house. I pushed the idea of exploring aside for now.

I hadn't been in my room long when I heard a knock on the door. It should have been Liam at the door, dropping off the hairdryer. I tried to get it from him when he whispered, "I'll help," and stepped in, pushing open the door. He motioned for me to sit on the stool as he plugged in the hairdryer.

I do not want to piss him off. It was a thoughtful act following the outburst. Maybe this is how it will be to live with him? I mentally slapped my brain for this rabid thought. While my wolf cackled at my stupidity, I shut her up and sat down .

He meticulously dried my hair, taking his time. He worked diligently and patiently with my unruly hair, which I doubt he has ever done for anyone else. Every time Kate lent me a hand with my hair, whether it was drying or styling, she grew tired of them.

He switched off the power and pulled the plug. Leaning in close, he planted a kiss on the mark he had left earlier in the day. A shiver went through my body as I clenched my thigh tight to calm my lady parts. "Good night," he said quietly in my ear, his breath hitting my bare neck. Before I could gain my senses, he left the room, leaving me cold by robbing the warmth.

I couldn't sleep, so I planned to spend the night in my basement art studio, but I was wondering if it was a good idea to leave Raya alone here. Not that I am scared for her safety. I worried I wouldn't be reachable if she needed me. After some thinking, I dropped her a note saying, "I will be in the basement. There is no tower. If you need me, then you can come get me. Toiletries are stuffed in the upper cabinets in the bathroom if you need them."

Her response came a mere second later: "OK, good night "

I took off to the basement. I have not painted in some time, but my hands were itching to begin a new project. I grabbed my apron and paint tubes to give it a shot. I was so caught up in the canvas that I didn't notice when the sun began to shine through.

My wolf was awake and pacing in my mind as I considered giving in to him. I retrieved my belongings and made my way to the rear of the home. It was the house closest to the woods. I undressed and unleashed my inner beast.

He was a magnificent beast with his huge frame and black fur. His eyes swirled with red and golden hues. He tapped his paws and stretched his legs before taking flight in the breeze. Despite the gusts of wind, he hurried towards the lake. I can feel the thuds of his paws and the wet earth below them. It's this freedom in the air that makes us alive . I love my beast. He keeps me sane. He runs through the edge of the lake. I can see the reflection of his majestic frame in the water. He smiled at the sight and was happy that his mate might like him. He was thrilled at the opportunity to meet her. He might hit it well with her rather than me.

He purred with happiness at my thought .We settled into a spot to rest for a little. We both enjoyed gazing at the orange sun. This was our favorite activity. I'm not sure how long we stayed, but it seemed like it was time to go. He dashed towards the house when he noticed some movement near the back. He slowed down and paced quietly to avoid startling the intruder. He smelled her like freesia and spice as we got closer to my house.

I hadn't had time to process it all before my beast appeared in her view. As she sat on the grass, basking in the sun, her eyes fell on him. Her reaction to him was unfazed. Rather than being terrified, she was truly amazed by this beast. She grinned at him while staring into his eyes. He paced slowly toward her, tugging his head low and his tail wiggling in the back. He was within reach now, and I warned him not to get any closer. She can reach us if she wants. I want her to choose. And she did. Her hands reached out to gently caress his fur just below his ears.

He moved forward to rest his head on her lap. His tail was wagging as she laughed at him, saying, "You really like this. Don't you? ". He closed his puppy eyes again after staring into her for a moment. He was ecstatic to be so close to her. She stroked his head while resting her head on his. We sat there in peace, quiet and content. She brushed his hair again and whispered in his ear, "You need to shift.". He looked up into her eyes with an affection that could melt anyone before moving away from her. He reached the tree where we left our bag and brought me out.

Moments later, I was back again. I was happy for him. I pulled my T-shirt over me as I walked over to where she was sitting. I sat some distance from her as I said, "You can shift if you like. The woods span for miles from here, and the lake gives you a beautiful spot to rest.".

She tensed at my words as she glanced at me before returning her gaze to the sun. Her shoulders slumped, and a sigh escapes her lips. "I shifted only once. Never again. He might never meet her.", came her voice in bored tone.

Her voice was concealing the pain, as she wanted to dismiss it as insignificant. My wolf was extremely distressed by this. His desire for his partner was obvious to me. He had been looking forward to meeting her since the moment he sensed Raya in the palace. I hated to see him sad, but his joy at the prospect of her petting him outweighed his sadness. He deserved a mate, but he was still happy to meet her in her human form.

"I made breakfast. Shall we go and eat it?" she said, as she pulled herself up. I nodded and followed her to the house.
