DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT! He knew he shouldn't have shut the door on Aestherielle, but he couldn't stand the embarrassment. He wanted to punch himself for being so moronic.
How could I asked her about that stupid question?
“Alright, Kairo, get a grip,” -he muttered to himself. “Calm down. Act like nothing's wrong. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. It's perfectly normal.”
Napahilamos siya sa sariling mukha.
Idiot.
Hanggang ngayon, nasa loob parin siya ng shower room, and he's starting to wonder if he should even bother finishing. It's been like ten minutes already, and he's still kicking himself for being so stupid. He really shouldn't have told her about that shower thing. It was supposed to be a private thought, but now it's out there. He's seriously questioning his life choices right now, and he's pretty sure he's going to need a therapist after this. Why on fúcking earth did he tell her about that?
How can he face her now? He never felt so embarrassed, ngayon lang, putangina ngayon lang.
He hadn't come here to be humiliated. He'd rearranged his entire schedule to see the Empress. He'd pushed aside his company meetings, his deadlines, everything. He'd even risked his life driving like a maniac to get here after Euan's message. But now, the world had crumbled around him. Shame had swallowed him whole.
He was trapped in a cage of his own making. He felt like every moment that passed, the questions he was dreading were getting louder. He knew Aestherielle wouldn't rest until she had answers. She hated uncertainty, and he was the last person who wanted to leave her with any. He'd just told her he wanted to be with her, just them, no one else. No Primo, no other guy.
Fúcking great. The Empress will ask him a lot of questions now kapag lalabas siya ng banyo. Aestherielle was a woman who demanded honesty. She wasn't fooled by empty words or insincere gestures. She could see right through you, and she wasn't afraid to call you out. She wasn't into playing games or sugarcoating things. She hated fake compliments and could spot a phony a mile away. In a nutshell, she was intimidating. Good god, he'd even invited her into the bathroom to shower with him.
He quickly wet himself down, thinking the Queen might be waiting. The water cascaded over him, a cool counterpoint to the nervous heat building in his chest. Three minutes later, he started soaping himself, the familiar ritual a brief respite from the anxiety gnawing at him. Then, the insistent ring of his phone shattered the quiet. He frantically rinsed his head and dried his hands, and stepped out of the shower room.
And it's Euan.
“Euan,” -he spoke.
“My Lord,” -the voice on the other end said, sounding worried. “I'm sorry to interrupt, but there's a problem outside the Head Quarters.”
“What kind of problem?”
“Prince Damien is inside with one of your friends.”
“Where are you?”
“I'm in the Queen's car.”
He nodded, breathing heavily. “Stay there and wait for me to call you back. Don't get out of the car.”
“Yes, My Lord.”
