[Finally, a character development from Felix]
Felix's POV:
Watching Hyunjin break down in front of us was like watching the world fall apart. Every trembling sob that escaped his lips felt like a dagger to my heart, and I couldn't help but feel the weight of guilt pressing down on me. I had been so caught up in my own struggles, in my confusion and anger, that I hadn't even considered how deeply Hyunjin was hurting.
As he hid behind the pillow, shielding himself from the harsh reality, I felt a rush of determination surging through me. I couldn't keep shutting him out anymore—not when he needed me the most.
"Hyunjin," I began, my voice softer, more vulnerable than I had intended. "I know I've been distant... I've been struggling with everything that's happened between us. But I can't just stand by and watch you suffer like this. You mean too much to me."
His gaze flickered toward me, filled with a mix of fear and longing. I could see the vulnerability in his eyes, the hesitance to accept the love I was offering. The sight of him, so fragile and raw, ignited a fire within me.
"I can't keep pretending everything is fine," I confessed, my heart racing. "I can't keep pretending I don't care when I do. I'm scared too, Hyunjin. I'm scared of losing you, but I can't let that fear keep me from being here for you. Not anymore."
The room was heavy with silence, and I could feel everyone's eyes on us—waiting, watching, hoping for a breakthrough. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to hold Hyunjin's gaze. "You don't have to go through this alone. You don't have to hide your pain from me. Please, let me in. Let me help you."
Hyunjin's eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and for a moment, I feared he might pull away again. But instead, I saw a flicker of something else—a glimmer of hope, perhaps.
"I don't know if I can," he admitted, his voice trembling. "I don't want you to see me like this... so broken."
"You're not broken," I insisted, my voice firm but gentle. "You're hurt, and that's okay. It's okay to feel scared and lost. What happened to you isn't your fault, and I want to help you heal. I want to be the person you can lean on."
The tension in the air began to shift, the unspoken weight between us loosening ever so slightly. I could see it in his expression—the conflict, the uncertainty, but also a flicker of trust.
I reached out, placing my hand over his, a small gesture, but one filled with meaning. "You don't have to face this alone, Hyunjin. I'm right here. I'll stay by your side, no matter what."
Hyunjin stared at our hands, his brow furrowed in thought, and I felt my heart race with anticipation. He was still hesitant, still scared, but I could see the walls he had built around himself starting to crack.
"I... I don't want to drag you into my pain," he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"You won't drag me anywhere," I replied, squeezing his hand gently. "This is my choice, and I choose to be here for you. I want to share your burdens, Hyunjin. Please let me."
He looked up at me, and in that moment, I knew we were at a turning point. I could see the rawness of his emotions reflected in his eyes, and I felt a surge of hope—hope that maybe, just maybe, we could start to mend the fractures in our relationship.
With a shaky breath, Hyunjin nodded, his expression softening. "Okay. I'll try... I don't want to keep pushing you away."
Relief washed over me like a warm tide, and I smiled through my own tears. "That's all I ask. We'll take this one step at a time."
As we sat there, hand in hand, I knew this was just the beginning. The road ahead would be difficult, but I was ready to face it—together.
"I want you to know that you can lean on me. You're my husband, and we're in this together. No matter how difficult it is, I want to help you carry this weight."
He looked at me, his eyes searching mine for sincerity, and for the first time in a long while, I felt a flicker of hope ignite within me. I realized then how much I had been shutting him out—how I had let my own fears and guilt keep me from being the partner he needed.
"I... I don't know how to deal with this," he admitted, his voice trembling. "I don't want to feel weak, but I feel so broken right now."
"You're not weak for feeling this way," I reassured him, brushing my thumb across his knuckles. "You're brave for facing it. It takes courage to confront what happened and to let others in."
As I spoke, I could see the turmoil in his expression start to soften. It was as if my words were piercing through the fog of despair that had enveloped him. "You're not alone in this, Hyunjin. I may not fully understand, but I want to be there for you every step of the way. Just tell me what you need."
His breath hitched, and I could see tears pooling in his eyes. "I just want you to be here. I want us to be okay."
I nodded, determination settling in my chest. "We will be okay. I promise. But you need to let me in. Don't shut me out, not now when you need me the most."
He took a shaky breath, and I could see the internal struggle etched across his features. Finally, he nodded slowly, as if coming to a resolution. "Okay. I'll try. But it's hard."
"Hard is part of the journey, Hyunjin. We'll take it one day at a time, together," I said, hoping to convey my commitment to him.
Just then, the door creaked open, and I turned to see Chan, Minho, Jisung, and Seungmin stepping into the room. Their expressions were a mix of concern and support, ready to back us up in whatever way we needed.
"Hey, we're here for both of you," Chan said, his voice steady. "You're not alone. We'll face this together."
I felt a swell of gratitude as I looked at my friends. They had always been there for us, and their support was more valuable than I could ever express. It made me realize how important it was for Hyunjin to have a support system, not just from me but from everyone who loved him.
As the night wore on, we talked—about everything and nothing—sharing laughter, tears, and moments of silence that spoke volumes. With each passing minute, I could see Hyunjin beginning to open up, bit by bit. And as I watched him slowly regain his strength, I felt my own heart swell with a determination to be the partner he needed.
I knew the road ahead would be long and fraught with challenges, but I was ready to face it all. Together, we would heal, and I would do everything in my power to ensure Hyunjin never felt alone again.
