What if Carmen and Graham never me Until their on the battlefield?

Requested by 1moreFrenchFry...

Carmen Sandiego walked through the train cart, searching for the room assigned to her. She stopped at a door, this was the one. she used the virtual ticket Player had sent her and opened the door, "First class sweet." She said, "My treat Red, you earned it." Her best friend replied. "Well well," A voice started from the doorway.that's not Zack or Ivy's voice. "Caught off your guard eh?" He said, crackle rod in hand. Carmen turned around to face the Aussie-accented operative, stunning device ready behind her back. "Goodbye mate." He said, her eyes widened. He turned the device to it's highest setting, and fired. Carmen leapt out of the way. She wasn't fast enough. Part of the blast caught her leg. Carmen cried out in pain, electricity coursing through her as her limbs twitched from the shock. The young man cuffed her hands behind her back, forcing her to her feet when he'd finished. She looked up at him, and he was quick to hide his guilt and regret... The operative had been carrying her on his shoulder for a half hour now, the reason for her lack of struggle being that she was doing good to stay conscious. She heard a car door open, then she was shoved inside. The cleaner's put a bag over her head, she didn't fight back. Crackle was told to sit in the back and make sure the prisoner didn't escape. He looked over at her, she was in bad shape. Crackle glanced at the front, the glass was up. They weren't paying attention. He gently reclined her seat, then buckled her. He did cover the windows, but he removed the bag from her head. Carmen looked at him confused, he gave a subtle smile. as the car ride dragged on, Carmen's breathing slowed. It seemed like she was fading more by the moment, and most certainly didn't have long. Her face was pale and pulse weak, heartbeat slow and she hadn't been fully conscious in over half an hour. Crackle kept his thumb at her wrist, monitoring her pulse. She was their enemy, he knew that but...He didn't want to loose her. He'd never killed someone before! Taking a painting was one thing, but a human life!? That, was another. "What have I done?" He whispered to himself, she was just a kid! She wasn't this huge powerful threat that could take on anything like V.I.L.E. had said! And even if she was a big threat, she didn't deserve this. Crackle noted the shivering the moment it started, after checking for tools he handed her hoodie and phone to her. When she didn't take them he realized she was mostly blacked out. So he put her hoodie on her, and slipped her phone into her pocket. Crackle reluctantly wrapped an arm around the shaking girl. she rested her head on his shoulder. And in that moment, he knew he couldn't let them hurt her. He had to find a way out, a way past the cleaners. 'Another red light!? How many of those are we gonna bump into?-' Graham froze, could it really be that easy? He looked out the window, there was a gas station right over there. Maybe he could... A determined look settled on Graham's face, if he could get to it, they'd at least stand a chance. Silently, he unbuckled himself, then Carmen. He set her on his lap and edged towards the door. He took a deep breath, was she really worth defecting? Was it worth the consequences to saved her from them? Yes. Yes she was, and he'd never be able to live with himself if she died because of him. Graham opened the door, the cleaners immediately noticed. Slowly they turned towards him, and fear became all that he knew. He shoved the door open, bolting for the gas station, a dying girl in his arms. Graham rammed the door, "HELP!" he shouted like his life depended on it. cause it did. both their lives depended on someone hearing him. Everyone in the store turned towards them just as the cleaners came up behind him. Graham elbowed one of the men in the throat, and kicked the other in the knee. Carmen started to squirm out of his grip, trying and failing to stand. She clutched her leg, tears pricking her eyes as pain flooded and overwhelmed her senses. It took a moment, but the people charged the cleaners, eager to help protect the two. Carmen barely managed standing, but she still felt the need to help in the fight. The fight lasted a few minutes, but there was just enough of them that the cleaners had to retreat, using smoke bombs to disappear. Graham gave a triumphant yell, and started thanking people for their help as they walked away. When he looked down his face paled. Carmen was propped up against a wall, her eyes were glazed over and there were signs that the when kicking the cleaners made a point to aim for her leg, blood dripped from her mouth and there was a purple bruise forming on her left cheek. "Carmen! You alright?" He asked as he knelt down and gently gripped her shoulders. She looked up at him, eyes half lidded. She shook her head, eyes rolling up into her head. "Please stay with me." He whispered, "I can't loose you, not now. Please stay with me kiddo." He pleaded as a tear slipped down his cheek. Ring...Ring... Graham realized that the sound was coming from Carmen's pocket, and to his utter relief, it seemed to wake her up a bit. Carmen tried to focus her strength in hopes of picking up before her hacker panicked, but it was in vain. Her strength was depleted. She had just managed to pull it out of her pocket before blacking out completely. Graham picked up without a second thought. Whoever her friend was, maybe they would know what to do. Cause he didn't. "Hello?" He asked nervously, "Who is this" The young voice answered. "My name is graham." "What on earth are you doing with my friend's phone?" The teenager asked, seemingly a bit upset. So Graham told him, he told the boy everything he could. "It's bad, I'm not sure she's gonna make it without a hospital." He finished, a bit shaky. "Okay, I'm going to send her team to help. Don't go anywhere. And Graham?" Player spoke, Graham lifted an eyebrow, "Stay with her. Try to wake her up and keep her that way, maybe try talking to her." The boy instructed, he nodded. "Okay." He said, determination once again sparking in him... Graham had managed to keep Carmen just barely awake until her team got there. There were two members, both red heads and seemingly siblings. A brother and sister, both young. The sister got to work immediately, handling the situation as calmly as one possibly could. Both siblings spoke softly to her, trying to keep her as calm as possible as they treated her wounds. Once she was as patched up as she could be right now, they got her inside the white van they'd pulled up in. "Can I...come with you?" Graham asked, bracing himself for the painful 'no' that would surely follow. "Sure. Hop in." The younger boy said as he headed for the driver's seat. Graham's eyebrows shot up in surprise, but he was quick to get over it and get his caboose in the van. They all buckled up and their driver floored it, Ivy was quick to make sure the gurney Carmen was on didn't knock against any walls. Graham held her hand, and they got to the hospital just in the nick of time. The nursing staff was quick to get her into surgery, leaving the three to sit in the waiting room... "Are you three here with Scarlet Santa Rosa?" A nurse walked up and asked, they nodded, eager to see their friend. "Well she is out of surgery, but she might not be awake for a few hours yet. Floor three, room 62." She informed them, clearly seeing how desperate they were. "Thank you ma'am!" they said in unison as they raced for the stairs, going up them faster than that nurse had ever seen. They raced into Carmen's room, immediately swarming her. "Carm? Carmen!? please wake up." Ivy whispered, tear stinging her eyes. Graham scooped up Carmen's hand, "Please come back to us kiddo." he pleaded. Slowly, her eyes opened and she looked up  at them, smiling. "Hey guys" She said weakly, fogging up the oxygen mask she wore slightly. "Hey Carm." Zack said as tears welled up, Ivy choked on a sob, "Ya scared us Carm. We thought we'd lost you." she said. Carmen looked down at her hand, the one Graham still held. At first she wanted to yank it back, but let herself relax a bit. So instead she squeezed back, he'd saved her life after all. And before you could blink Carmen was snuck out of the hospital, not yet able to walk on two legs, but not able to be confined to a bed either. Slowly but surely, Carmen managed to make a full recovery. While she was out of the game though, Graham stepped in. So team red had a new member, and let's just say Carmen was more than happy about that. Once he'd proven himself of course. And one year after, Graham mustered up the courage to kneel down and ask a certain question. Her answer made him feel like he was in a dream. And maybe he was...

He wasn't.
