Aru's Pov:
I had just brewed myself a cup of coffee, eager to enjoy a quiet evening alone. I sat down in the hall, a book I'd picked up from the library in hand. With him gone on a business trip, this was one of those rare moments I could savor—no awkward conversations, no tension. Just peace. I started reading, letting the story pull me in while I took my first sip of my hot coffee.
But before I could fully settle in, I heard some commotion outside, where the bodyguards were stationed. Frowning, I put my cup down and went to check what was going on. To my surprise, standing there was none other than her—that mean girl from our engagement day. The one who had gone out of her way to criticize me, trying to undermine me in front of everyone. Chavi. Of course, it had to be her.
She was making a scene out there, loud enough to be heard from inside. Annoyed, I stepped closer and asked the guards what was going on. One of them informed me that Aryan had specifically instructed them not to let anyone in unless they were family. But, of course, Chavi was claiming she had permission from Mr. Adani himself. The guards, however, insisted they had orders to follow Aryan's word alone.
I sighed, already tired of the unnecessary drama. Despite their protests, I raised my hand to signal the guards to stop. "Let her in," I said, more out of wanting to end the commotion than any real desire to see her. The guards hesitated but stepped aside, and I gestured for Chavi to come inside.
I greeted her with a polite smile, masking the irritation bubbling underneath. "Chavi, please come in," I said, stepping aside and closing the door behind her. She strutted in, her eyes immediately scanning the room, lingering briefly on the cup of coffee sitting on the table. I noticed the look, so I asked, "Would you like some coffee? I just made it."
Her expression barely changed, but I caught the subtle roll of her eyes, as if the offer was beneath her. "No, thanks," she replied, her tone as uninterested as her body language.
I decided to cut straight to the point. "So, what brings you here, Chavi? Aryan's out of town on a business trip, as I'm sure you know." I watched her closely, curious about what kind of excuse she was going to come up with.
I was honestly trying to be nice, but it was clear Chavi had some deep-rooted grudge against me. She launched into her rant, "It must be nice being a gold digger, but let me tell you, no one can take my place in Aryan's life. Most importantly, he slept with me and made me moan terribly in every position you can't imagine, more times than he could ever even touch you. I came to inform you that."
I raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at my lips. "Well, Chavi, sounds like you were more of a workout than a memory. Maybe all that effort could've gone towards being someone he'd actually want to keep around."
Chavi's nose flared, and I could see the anger radiating off her, but I was proud of myself for that comeback. Still, something in my chest squeezed, even though I didn't feel anything for Aryan. I had suspected something was going on between them all along, and now I was right. The question gnawed at me—were they still together? She stood there like one of those mean high school girls, with her plump, glossy lips and an air of entitlement, like she was born to make everyone else miserable.
Before I could fully process it, she grabbed the crystal water bottle she'd brought with her and threw the contents directly at me. The cold water splashed all over my white shirt. I hadn't even had the chance to change out of my clothes after coming back from college. My lacy bra, which had cupped my heavy breasts perfectly, was now clearly visible beneath the drenched fabric. My shirt, which hadn't been see-through before, clung to me, betraying every detail.
