Aryan's POV:
As I picked her up, I heard it. A faint crack from the back of her dress. Wow. Perfect timing. Just what I needed. Her dress was about to split, and I had to somehow cover it up without causing a scene.
She wasn't making it any easier. "Put me down!" she yelled, flailing her arms as she lightly hit my chest, laughing like a kid who didn't get her way. "I have more to say to the audience!" Her voice was loud, and the crowd seemed more amused than shocked at this point.
I couldn't help but chuckle under my breath. She was behaving like a baby, and for some strange reason, it was kind of... cute? Still, this needed to end now. "No, you don't," I muttered, holding her tighter, trying to maintain her modesty while navigating her half-drunk tantrum.
The eyes of the entire ballroom were on me, especially Disha and Mr. Adani, who looked at me like I had grown a second head. Great, just what I needed. But I kept walking, barely acknowledging their stares.
As I moved towards one of the rooms in the mansion, I discreetly instructed one of the bodyguards, "Find out who let her have alcohol. I specifically told everyone not to let her touch it."
The bodyguard nodded and moved swiftly into the crowd. Meanwhile, Aradhya continued to mutter nonsense, her head now resting against my chest. She mumbled something incoherent, her arms going limp as exhaustion began to take over.
With her still in my arms, I sighed inwardly. This night had gone completely sideways. But as ridiculous as this situation was, as chaotic as it felt, I found myself... caring. A lot more than I probably should.
I adjusted my grip, making sure her dress didn't split any further, and made my way out of the ballroom, silently wondering how my life had turned into this.
*
I placed her carefully on the bed, hoping she'd settle down, but of course, she didn't. Within seconds, Aradhya bounced up, standing on the bed and jumping like a kid. Her laughter echoed through the room, carefree and wild. I ran my hand over my face, sighing.
"Aradhya, you're going to be the death of me, someday. Woman, calm down!"
She ignored me completely, starting to speak nonsense—rambling about anything and everything. But the thing was, her nonsense was starting to grow on me. Every slurred word, every ridiculous statement... I hated to admit it, but it was kind of endearing. The nonsense that I had started liking, maybe even loving.
She teetered toward the edge of the bed, and before I could react, she lost her balance. Instinct kicked in, and I lunged forward, catching her just before she toppled off. This time, though, she didn't just stumble. She collapsed onto me, her legs wrapping around my torso, her body pressed up against mine, heat radiating between us.
"God, Aradhya," I muttered under my breath.
Her head rested against my shoulder, and in that moment, I felt her breathing slow, like she was finally calming down. But then, I noticed her strap had fallen loose from the slit in her dress. One of her breasts was almost entirely exposed, and I froze, the situation becoming dangerously intimate. My heartbeat quickened, and I swallowed hard, trying to regain control of the moment.
"Aru..." I said softly, trying to pull the strap back up without startling her. But the weight of her against me, the warmth of her breath on my neck, and the way she looked so vulnerable in that moment—it was enough to mess with my head.
For the first time in a long time, I didn't know what to do next.
As she lay against me, her soft body pressed into mine, I felt a surge of heat rush through me. My heart raced, and despite every effort to control myself, my body betrayed me. Shit. My cock hardened, and it became impossible to ignore the way she was draped over me, her leg casually wrapped around my torso, her skin brushing against mine.
