He coughed heavily as more blood dripped from his mouth. He wheezed, feeling himself choke on the sticky liquid. It kept coming. It wouldn't stop.

Let us in.

He picked his head up, looking at the dense trees around him. He could sense another presence. Yet...he could not see anything.

As he was overtaken by another bout of coughing, he hunched over, feeling his insides squirm as he struggled against the odd sensation running throughout his body. It almost felt as if...it wasn't his anymore.

He staggered over to a tree and leaned against it, trying to wipe the blood away from his mouth with his talons. He paused as he felt an uncomfortable tingling at the base of his neck.

Let us in.

As he reached back to feel his scales, he noticed some unusual bumps on the back of his neck that hadn't been there before. His eyes widened as his breathing only became heavier out of panic.

Before he could utter a word, however, his body fell to the ground. He felt an overwhelming surge of pain throughout his entire back and neck, and more blood spurted from his mouth and leaked from his eyes.

He tried to scream, but his mouth wouldn't move. It was as if his limbs were moving on their own. He heard his Torcs snap as something moved behind and around him.

Everything seemed to fade into a blur from there. He was vaguely aware of pain coming from somewhere, but it felt as if he had been detached from his own body. What remained of his vision was all but his own body and the ground beneath him stained red with blood.

He continued to shake and vomit as he felt something big shift inside of him. It wriggled and searched, it felt as if it were growing, feeding. It seemed to strangle him from the inside.

Let us in.

When his vision finally cleared, he woke to see that he was still leaning beside the tree. He couldn't feel anything below his neck, and something waved at the corner of his vision.

He tried to crane his neck to see, but something prevented him from turning his head. He felt a rush of panic. What was going on?

He could only stay there, half-way on the ground, listening to something squelching on his back. Why...why did it feel like he was being eaten alive? Like...something was eating his flesh?

Something shifted again in the corner of his vision. This time, though, he was able to see it much better. It was a large tentacle of some sort, maybe a vine. Whatever it was, it wiggled around, as if searching for something to grab a hold of.

He froze as he felt something brush against the top of his head.

No.

He suddenly felt the urge to throw up as he realized that the tentacles were coming from inside him. He tried to scream and stand up, but his body remained still.

Tears began to pour down his eyes as he began to hyperventilate. The tearing noises continued just behind his ears as he knew that soon, whatever this parasite was would begin to eat at his organs too, and soon he would be rotting alive.

He couldn't move, he had no choice but to let it eat at him, slowly tearing off bits of his skin and bone, working its way down to his core where it would probably make it's home once he was as hollow as a dead tree.

And all he could do...was let them in.

Phew, that was a crazy one!

Today's Goretober piece features one of my ocs called "Rodney".

There's some complicated lore involved with him, and this doesn't actually happen to him lore-wise, but at one point it does almost happen to him. So I wrote this as a "what-if" scenario.

Basically, the parasite is a type of Fictional Fungus, which is why I chose it for this story. It likes to feed off of victims, leaving absolutely nothing behind. It also paralyzes the victim so that they cannot flee while it works.

(It is still a type of fungus, working to decompose it's food, hence why it begins to eat all of him, including his bones.)

RIP to Rodney I guess, because getting infected with this Parasite means death.
