When I woke up the next morning, I felt someone on top of me. I looked down and saw it was Callie.
That's right, she fell asleep on me last night.
I am just admiring her as she sleeps. Watching her chest rise and fall with each breath. Then I see the scar on her forehead right above her eyebrow. Without thinking, I reach to trace her scar gently.
She's so pretty. I've always wanted to tell her how I feel, but I can't. Every time I tried, I chickened out, or someone interrupted. After her mom died, she pushed me away; actually, now that I think about it, she pushed everyone away. She stopped talking. Then she moved, but she's back now. Maybe things can be different? Maybe I can finally confess the right way, well maybe not right away.
I close my eyes and try to go back to sleep without thinking about her lying on me. I start to feel her stir; I feel her trying to sit up, but can't because of my hold on her.
I can feel her gaze on me. "Are you done staring?" I keep my eyes closed.
"No, actually, and I wasn't staring. Now let me go." It takes everything in me not to blush at that first part, and I know she's blushing. She tries getting up again, but I tighten my hold on her. She groans and does something I didn't expect. She lies back down.
10 minutes later, I hear JJ wake up. Of course, someone had to wake up. "Morning," JJ says to me and Callie.
"Morning, JJ!" Callie replies enthusiastically.
"Is he asleep?" Callie turns her head to look at me.
"No, I don't think so." I hear him chuckle.
"Classic Eli," He walks past me to go to the bathroom and slaps my chest, mumbling a 'morning'.
Alex and Isa wake up next. "Good morning, guys!" Callie says to the two that just woken up. They both mumble a morning, still not fully awake.
"Elijah, will you let me up now?"
"Elijah?"
"I know you're awake."
"Elijah Bruno Darmos!"
I open my eyes and roll them. "What, Callie?" I ask her, annoyed.
"Let me go," I do as she says, always.
"There, get up and be quiet so I can sleep."
"That was a horrible shit, usually my morning shits are much more enjoyable." JJ describes his morning shiftsto us.
Well, I'm awake now.
I sit up and swing my legs off the couch. "How are you, my dearest best friend?" JJ's annoying, happy, energetic voice asks me. I hear Alex, Callie, and Taylor laugh. I glare at Callie.
