Three thunderous explosions ripped through the air, shattering the stillness of the high desert plateu and causing the earth to shudder.
From deep in the latverian castle evil villain Doctor Doom aide to King Boo, evil leader of the ghost army, rushed to the surface to find out what had happened.
The radar screens had not revealed any attacking signs of the Fantastic Four.
"What can be going on?" wondered Dr. Doom in confusion
"Has our supply of precious crystal fuel accidentally exploded? We have so little left!"
Outside, Dr. Doom found King Boo standing holding his red-shot ghost crown using his ghost orb attacks around him lay the twisted smoking remains of Professor X, mentor of the X-Men.
"You've knocked out Professor X King Boo!"
Dr. Doom exclaimed with Horror
King Boo whirrled and faced Dr. Doom
"Do you want to be next?"
He snarled fircely.
Dr Doom backed away slowly, shaking his ghostly head from side to side.
"Oh, I don't think so master. thank you very much".
"I'm very pleased with the way my magic is pumped together, just the way they are."
Dr. Doom laughed contemputously
"Don't get your tin magic in all snarled up then they haven't destroyed Wolverine....yet, This was a model him next time it will be for real. I'll punish him by destroying him. Then he will never be reborn again. He will never again try to destroy the reborn mutants of magneto with dark moon powers inside of them from me!"
"But master, If you used that power against him- I mean logic and reasoning- you wouldn't have to destroy him at all!"
This enraged King Boo
so that he aimed his dark orb attack at Dr. Doom's feet and tore up the ground around him
Dr. Doom slowly opened his eyes as he checked his body for damage.
He didn't dare look at King Boo.
But the leader of the ghosts snarled,
"What did you mean by that?"
"Nothing Mighty King Boo."
Doctor Doom's voiced squeaked.
"Really, nothing at all."
"Tell Me! Now!"
demanded King Boo as he activated his dark powers again.
The words spilled out of Dr. Doom in a torrent
"Well, master if you were to find a power source of crystals to power your doombots, then Professor X would be loose the power he's gaining over them... they maybe no longer loyal to him and would again be under your control... if we are to ever return to the Netherworld and finally defeat the Fantastic Four, we must have more and more of that time crystal. Professor X has promised to deliver the oil to the X-Men."
"So have I!" King Boo exclaimed furiously.
"But he's promised them the time crystals and in greater amounts. He says your methods are not reliable, that you fly into rages too much."
"ARRRRRGGHHH!" King Boo roared, as he dug more trenches with his dark powers.
Meanwhile, somewhere in north south formation, The X-Men was making there way toward the Baxter Building.
