Third POV

one week timeskip

Y/n sat in her room, staring absentmindedly out the window with a pen hanging out of her mouth. Her hair was a mess and her eye bags were even more prominent than before.

She yawned slightly and scratched the back of her head as she stood up. She sighed softly as her stomach grumbled.

"Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm goin'," she muttered, walking out the door and to the cafeteria.

As she sluggishly made her way over, she heard a few voices from one of the rooms. Now, normally y/n would never eavesdrop (wink, wink) but she was curious and bored. So she silently moved over to the cracked door and listened in.

"I mean.....it's been fun at least," she heard Chigiri's voice say.

"Yeah! Fufufu, it's been a lot of fun. Y/n makes it even better," Bachira sighed blissfully. Isagi chuckled at his friend as Nagi spoke up.

"She makes it easy to understand-"

"Even if she is kind of scary sometimes," Reo chimed in, cutting Nagi off. Y/n stood with her back to the wall, her emotionless mask starting to slip. She heard another voice, Rin's voice. Though what he had said was too quiet for her to hear. Y/n shook her head and walked off, a small blush spreading across her face.

She had regretted listening in, but she also felt some kind of pride. She came in, fully prepared to have every single one of these players hate and refuse to work with her. But she had been.....pleasantly surprised so far. She sighed heavily as she got lost in her thoughts.

The only thing still carrying her to the cafeteria was her grumbling stomach. As she walked in, she bumped into someone. Before she could fall, the person she had bumped into caught her.

Y/n latched onto them as her eyes widened and she squeaked in alarm. Her heart started beating out of her chest as she clung to them for dear life.

"O-oh. A-a-are you okay?" they stuttered out. Y/n looked up, being met with bright green eyes filled with worry.

"M-mm yeah. I'm good." She stood up, clearing her throat and dusting herself off. "Sorry. I should've been paying more attention", she looked up at him apologetically. He shook his head frantically.

"Nononono it was my fault! I should've been paying attention too!" He chuckled nervously as he fidgeted with his hands. Y/n sighed.

"No, it wasn't," she patted his shoulder, "Don't worry about it Tokimitsu." She walked off to grab food as Tokimitsu stood frozen.

She had said his name....she knew his name?

He ran off in embarrassment, leaving behind a smoke cloud. Y/n looked over curiously but ignored it and ate her fill as she scrolled through her phone. Ego ended up texting her right as she finished her food and stood up, asking her to come to his office.

Once she walked in, she was met with the rank odor of unwashed laundry and instant ramen. She coughed, 'Anri hasn't come in today yet huh?' she thought to herself as she covered her nose with her shirt. Ego turned slightly, beckoning her over. She did and stood next to him as he watched the cameras.

"So.....how are you doing?"

Y/n chuckled, she knew her mother had been calling him nonstop and worrying.

"I'm okay. So you can tell ma everything is fine and she doesn't need to worry," she giggled, instantly regretting it once the smell entered her nostrils again. Ego nodded, his eyes still on the screen.

"And the players?"

Y/n bit the inside of her cheek. She thought about what she had overheard, along with the encounter in the cafeteria. The corners of her mouth perked up in a half smile as she muttered.

 "I've grown.....accustomed. I guess."
