The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. Anupama stirred first, the soft sounds of her family waking around her drawing her from her dreams. She blinked, slowly adjusting to the light, and smiled as she felt Anuj's arms wrapped securely around her. It was one of her favorite parts of the morning—the way they often woke up together, wrapped in each other's warmth, the world outside fading into a peaceful background.
Anupama shifted slightly, careful not to disturb Anuj too much, and peered over at him. He looked peaceful, his dark hair tousled, a slight smile playing on his lips even in his sleep. Her heart swelled at the sight. It was moments like these that reminded her of how blessed she was to share her life with him.
"Good morning, handsome," she whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
Anuj stirred, his eyes fluttering open. He blinked a few times, a sleepy smile breaking across his face as he met her gaze. "Good morning, beautiful," he murmured, his voice still thick with sleep. He pulled her closer, resting his head against hers as he let out a content sigh. "I could get used to waking up like this every day."
Anupama giggled softly, her heart fluttering at his words. "You already do," she teased, nudging him playfully. "Every morning is a chance to wake up next to your favorite person."
"You're my only person," he replied, looking at her with a mix of affection and adoration that sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach. "Just you and our babies."
Their shared moment was suddenly interrupted by a soft giggle that echoed from the other room. Anupama's eyes widened with recognition. "That's Anika!" she exclaimed, pushing herself up slightly.
Anuj sat up with her, rubbing his eyes. "It sounds like she's already up and at it. We should go see what trouble she's causing."
They both laughed and quickly made their way to Anika's room, hand in hand. As they entered, the sight before them made their hearts swell. Anika was sitting in her crib, surrounded by a sea of stuffed animals and toys, her little hands waving enthusiastically in the air. Her hair was a wild mess, and her eyes sparkled with mischief.
"Mommy! Daddy!" she squealed, her face lighting up with pure joy. She reached for them, her tiny arms outstretched as they approached.
Anuj bent down, scooping Anika into his arms. "Good morning, little sunshine!" he said, kissing her cheek. "What were you up to while we were sleeping?"
"Playing!" Anika exclaimed, bouncing in his embrace. "Teddy and dolly wanted to play too!"
Anupama laughed, reaching out to tickle Anika's belly, making her giggle even louder. "Sounds like a fun party! Are we invited?"
"Yes! Come play!" Anika clapped her hands, her laughter ringing through the room like music.
The morning unfolded in a whirlwind of cuddles, laughter, and playtime. Anuj and Anupama took turns playing with Anika and her toys, relishing the moments of simple joy that filled their little home. Anika delighted in introducing them to each of her stuffed animals, giving each a name and a personality, while Anuj played along, pretending to negotiate with the animals over who would get the most cuddles.
"Daddy, this is Mr. Huggles," Anika said, holding up a large teddy bear. "He's very shy!"
"Shy, huh?" Anuj said with mock seriousness. "Well, Mr. Huggles, you're in good hands. I am a professional cuddler!"
"Yeah!" Anika shouted, clapping her hands. "And Mommy is the best at tickles!"
Anupama laughed, her heart brimming with love for her little family. "That's right! I'll show you my best tickling skills," she said, moving toward Anika, who squealed in delight and attempted to escape her grasp.
