The reception was in full swing, with the hum of conversations and the soft clinking of champagne glasses filling the lavishly adorned hall. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a golden hue over the evening, making everything and everyone glitter as if part of a dream.Veeranshu stood near the grand staircase, his eyes scanning the crowd, but he wasn’t looking for just anyone. He was searching for her. Where is Bani?
His heart had been unsettled since the moment she had walked into his life, like a storm threatening to sweep away everything he thought he knew. And tonight, as his eyes finally landed on her, standing near the edge of the room, Veer knew the storm had just begun.
Bani looked breathtaking in her emerald saree, the delicate material flowing around her like it was made for her alone. She looked every bit the queen she was, though her expression remained unreadable, almost cold. Her long earrings swayed as she turned her head, but her gaze never settled on him. She was avoiding him—he could feel it.
A slow smile tugged at Veer’s lips. Aaj bhi mujhse door bhag rahi ho, Bani? He thought, his amusement masking the deep yearning beneath.
He started walking toward her, the crowd parting as if sensing the magnetic pull between them. Every step brought him closer, yet Bani still refused to acknowledge him. But Veer had never been one to back down from a challenge.
"Bani," his voice was soft but commanding as he reached her, "tumhare saath ek dance karna hai."
She stiffened, but didn’t look at him. Her fingers tightened slightly around the glass in her hand. "Main interested nahi hoon."
Veer chuckled, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Darr lag raha hai?"
Finally, she turned her head, her eyes locking onto his with a fiery glare. "Main kisi se nahi darti."
His smile widened. "Toh phir, ek dance karlo. Nahi toh muze lagega tum mujhe pasand karne lagi ho.You want to resist your feelings towards me maybe you are scared of your love for me ...?"
Her lips pressed into a thin line, but before she could say anything, Veer held out his hand, leaving her no choice but to accept the challenge. After a moment’s hesitation, she placed her hand in his, her touch both a spark and a rejection all at once.
As he pulled her closer, she stiffened, keeping her distance even though his touch was light. "Yeh tumhara ek aur natak hai, Veer. Tumhe pata hai humare beech kya hai."
He smiled slightly, a glint in his eye. "Haan tum meri wife ho main tumhare pyaara pati .”
Bani’s eyes narrowed, frustration rising in her chest. “Tum samajhte kyun nahi ho? Tumhara aur mera koi future nahi hai. Tumhe yaad hai maine tumhe maara tha satyug mein?”
“Haan, yaad hai,” he replied, his voice calm. "Aur tum sahi thi."
Bani’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Kya? Tum keh rahe ho ke tum deserve karte the?"
Veer nodded slowly, his gaze never leaving hers. “Satyug mein maine galat kiya. Maine tumhe jeetne ke liye galat raaste apnaaye. Tumne apna farz nibhaya.”
She shook her head, her voice shaking with a mix of anger and confusion. “Phir kyun? Kyun tum ab bhi mujhse pyaar karte ho? Main tumhari dushman hoon.”
Veer’s lips curved into a small, knowing smile. “Dushman? Bani, main tumhe dushman kabhi nahi samajha. Tum sirf meri thi, ho, aur hamesha rahogi.”
“Kaisi baatein kar rahe ho tum?” Bani stepped back slightly, the heat in her words rising. “Main tumhare saath humesha nahi rehne wali dekh lena.”
