If he ignored the fact that Sabrina almost got hurt and he had almost killed four stupid, disgusting, drunk men that society wouldn't miss at all, that night was one of the best nights that Jasper had lived in his immortal life.

Not only the warm of her hand still lingered in his, but her smell was all over his jacket and inside his nose, and for some new reason, it didn't bother him at all. When he had held her between his arms, he swore he was going to die. Her smell had invaded all his senses; she was literally trapped in his arms; she wouldn't be able to run away or call for help. No one would have seen them in the dark, but her emotions had hit harder. She felt safe between his arms, ironic since it was the last place safe for her to be.

She had hold him like the world was hurting her and he was the only safe harbour. He would have never let anything happen to her as long as he was alive, and he had just found a reason to stay alive for more decades.

They had stayed up almost all night, sat under the porch of her house. Jasper could feel that she didn't want to be left alone, and even if he wanted to tell her that she would never be alone again, he couldn't really say that. So, he stayed with her until sleep forced its way into her body.

Sabrina had told him about her brother, explaining how they always did everything together. There hadn't been an experience, a holiday or a thought that they hadn't shared since they were born, and it pained her a little the fact that she was alone for the first time in their lives. It also excited her the unknown of a new adventure, like it excited her talking about her trips.

She had visited almost all Europe, from Lisbon to Bucharest, and from Oslo to Rome. She was programming her next trip to New York, and wanted to ask Melissa and Jason to join her that summer. No, she wouldn't go back to Italy any time soon, it was just an excuse to say no to everyone who asked her to prom. Yes, she was going to the prom, but she didn't want to choose her partner until she had known enough people to make a choice.

She was sharing so many details of her life and what went through her mind that he wanted to be able to do the same; so he started telling her about their time in Alaska, obviously leaving out some important parts. He told her about the clan Denali, telling her that they were Carlise's cousins; and how an already large family didn't fit with another large family.

Sabrina asked few questions, probably fewer than what she wanted, he guessed. He could feel the curiosity irradiating from every part of her body. She was a natural curious girl, and there was nothing that escaped her and her witty mind.

When he saw that she was fighting her own eyes to stay open, he suggested he should go home, even because he had heard her father waking up and listening to their conversation. Jasper focused for a moment on his emotions and felt only amusement and joy coming from the man upstairs. He wouldn't interrupt them, but he wouldn't even go to sleep until she was in her room safe. So, he decided to do at both the Ferraris a favour by pretending to go home, even if he wouldn't dream of be away more than few meters from her. Especially not after what had happened.

He was sure that if he went away, his instincts would prevail and he would hunt down that garbage of human beings and kill them one by one, in the most painful and slow way he knew.

«Uh...I know it's strange to ask, but would you...uh, help me calm down? I won't sleep if I stay this...nervous and well, you know perfectly what I'm feeling. »

She had asked him right as soon as they stood up. Yes, he knew exactly what she was feeling in that moment. Even if they had talked for hours, deep in her, inside one of those little boxed she kept, were a terror and a fear he would have never guessed she was feeling if it wasn't for his ability.
