Blaza sat at the edge of the forest, his thoughts still a mess after losing Tuxy to Black’s portal. His fists clenched in frustration as his mind replayed the moment over and over. He could still feel Tuxy’s arm slipping through his fingers. But it wasn’t just the loss that gnawed at him—it was Tbh’s silence, his betrayal. How could someone he trusted so deeply side with Black?
The quiet rustle of leaves snapped him out of his thoughts. He turned quickly, ready for a fight, but it was only Tbh, stepping out from the shadows. Blaza’s eyes narrowed instantly, his heart racing with a mix of anger and something else—something confusing.
"What are you doing here?" Blaza spat, his voice harsher than he intended. He stood up, fists at his sides, the pain of betrayal burning in his chest.
Tbh met his gaze, but his expression was as calm as ever. "We need to talk."
Blaza barked out a bitter laugh. "Talk? After you just handed Tuxy over to Black? You betrayed us!"
Tbh’s face remained impassive, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—regret, maybe. He took a step forward, but Blaza backed away.
"You don’t understand," Tbh said quietly. "I had no choice."
"You always have a choice!" Blaza shouted, the frustration and hurt finally bubbling over. "You could’ve fought back! You could’ve warned us!"
Tbh’s expression darkened. "If I fought back, if I resisted, things would’ve been worse. You don’t know what Black is capable of." He paused, his voice softening. "I did it to protect you."
Blaza’s anger faltered for a moment, his heart skipping a beat. "Protect me? From what?"
"From him," Tbh said, his voice heavy with something unspoken. "You don’t know the kind of power he has. If I hadn’t played along, he would’ve taken more than just Tuxy. He would’ve destroyed everything."
Blaza stared at him, his emotions swirling. He wanted to believe Tbh—he always had. But the image of him walking toward Black, leaving them behind, was burned into his memory.
"You could’ve told me," Blaza whispered, his voice barely audible now. "You should’ve told me."
Tbh took another step closer, his eyes softening. "I couldn’t risk it. Not then. But now…" He trailed off, as if unsure of what to say next. There was an intensity in his gaze that made Blaza’s heart race again, but not with anger this time.
Blaza’s breath caught in his throat as he realized just how close Tbh had gotten. He could feel the warmth radiating from him, the tension between them thick in the air. Blaza wanted to push him away, to stay angry, but something in Tbh’s eyes kept him rooted in place.
"You’re lying," Blaza said, though even he wasn’t sure if he believed it anymore. His voice trembled, betraying the confusion he felt.
Tbh’s hand hovered near Blaza’s, as if he wanted to reach out but wasn’t sure if he should. "I’m not lying, Blaza. I never wanted to hurt you."
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them standing there, caught in the quiet aftermath of everything that had happened.
Blaza’s heart pounded in his chest, torn between anger, confusion, and something else he didn’t want to name. He hated the way his body reacted to Tbh’s presence, the way his anger melted away whenever they were close.
"You still betrayed me," Blaza said, though his voice lacked the venom it once held.
"I know," Tbh whispered. "And I’ll make it right. I promise."
Blaza looked into Tbh’s eyes, searching for any sign of deception. But all he saw was sincerity—pain, even. His anger wavered, and for a moment, he wasn’t sure what he was feeling anymore.
Before he could stop himself, Blaza reached out, grabbing Tbh’s arm, pulling him close. "Don’t make promises you can’t keep," Blaza whispered, his voice barely audible as his face hovered inches from Tbh’s.
Tbh’s breath hitched, his eyes widening at the sudden closeness. For a split second, it felt like the world held its breath, waiting for what would happen next. Blaza’s heart raced, every nerve in his body on edge.
"I won’t," Tbh whispered, his voice barely more than a breath, his gaze locking with Blaza’s.
The tension between them was electric, a pull neither of them could ignore. And as the last sliver of daylight faded from the sky, Blaza felt something shift—something that had been buried deep, now rising to the surface.
