People stare at me in alarm every time I am in public. It feels like everyone bizarrely thinks something is wrong with me, but I'm normal. I constantly deal with stereotypical assumptions that try to define who I am. They are nothing new.
People frequently and rudely ask me if I've accidentally been painted blue or if I am not normal. They say things like, "Oops, did someone paint you blue? Was it a prank?"
"Why are you blue?"
"Are you an alien?"
"Don't stare at me, please."
"Whoa, you are creepy."
"I wish you could shower your blue off before going public."
"Why are you paying attention?"
"Why are you wearing blue?"
"I am incredibly concerned and must share the Bible verse and what it tells you."
"I've never seen anyone blue before—what are you doing here?"
"Where are you from?"
"How do you get blue?"
"Which gender would you prefer to be referred as?"
How dare they ask me such vile, obnoxious, and uncharitable questions? These brutal questions diminish my stature. Many hateful and xenophobic questions repeatedly tell me.
I am Blue
These hatred, xenophobia, and bigotry words try my glowing star down
I prevail even though tumultuous tribulations
I refuse to let the public think they win, that I will give up my tolerance, or that I am not human to them.
If I sacrifice my life, the public will think I'm valueless and worthless, fueling more contempt, and they will keep seeking the deed.
No, I'm still standing in the way of the tallest valley aside, falling many miniature crumbs.
I am Blue
Look up at the universe as it paints a galaxy in the sky to applaud my resilience, bravery, maturity, and boldness.
I trust God's plan but do not know what I do.
The universe guides me to follow its stars.
I know the universe will surprise me in the end when I become aging, become ill, or I face tragic fate.
All in all, I'm strong enough to handle these impediments.
