The Universe is not a peaceful place. The darkness between the Stars is not for those too weak to fight.
And the Universe is not just a Material Realm but has many dimensions. Trying to understand their Reality would make a Mortal's mind turn to mush. Such horrors which run rampant in those Realms.
One of the Realms, known as the Immaterium, also simply known as the Warp, was one such place of horror. With parasitic beings and nightmares manifest, sometimes bleeding into reality.
The Immaterium is a Gateway. A Gateway to the Infinite Multiverse. With the Warp being a Sea with the Universes being bubbles in the Infinite Water.
It is a realm where skies bleed blood, stars flare in the multicolored spectrum, and the souls and consciousness of innumerable beings in the Universe weaves through its fabric.
It is a realm where entire Universes are born and die with just a thought by the beings who rule in this.
It is a Realm where time and physcics matter less than a common fly and only chaos rules through its every breathe.
However it was not always like that. Before Humans were little more than organic matter. The Warp was calm. A calm serene place. And it was aptly called The Sea of Souls by the Old Ones, who were some of the first to utilize the power of the Warp.
The Old Ones, we're the first species who inhabited the Universe. Many thought that were created not through Organic Matter, but through pure Warp Energy bleeding into Real Space. Which can be the reason for their such control over the domain of Immaterium.
However the War in Heaven between the Old Ones and Necrons and the weaponisation of the Warp were one of the first reasons for the Immaterium from turning from a tranquil afterlife of Souls to the Hellscape that it is today.
The War depleted the Old Ones and the final death kneel from them sounded when Enslavers, arrived. The Enslavers are parasitic creatures, made by the contamination and mutation of the Warp. And they began attacking anyone with even a hint of powers related to the Warp.
The Necrons, who once thought their non-connection to the Warp as a weakness, now rejoiced as their foes were grounded to dust.
However the Necrons didn't rejoice later as they were soon found themselves enslaved and once again in a War with their Masters, The C'tan.
The War will further polute the Warp and damage it beyond recoverable. The Necrons while came victorius, now found themselves exhausted. So they locked themselves into stasis to rest before they can emerge again.
This left the Galaxy dominated by two races. The Eldari and Kroks. Both Children of Old Ones, created by them as Weapons against the Necrons.
