Extra Chapter 1 - Smoke

So you might be wondering why this chapter even exists. Well, every now and then in a similar way to chapter 23.5 I'll be making these extra chapters. They're canon to the story unless I say they aren't so you're just seeing some unnecessary extra details that might answer some questions. You can probably guess by the chapter name that this one will tackle the question of why Y/n started smoking!! Woohoo!

This Extra takes place sometime in between the mini-time skip that is in the season 2 finale.

Y/n wakes up on a hard bed in a clinical room. Similar to the one that Yuji was in when he presumably died. He sits up and groans to himself

Y/n: My back is killing me...

Y/n puts his hand on his stomach and feels a scar. Then the realisation of the Shibuya incident started to set in

Y/n: That scar from Mahito stabbing me. And here I thought that was just all a bad dream...

Y/n was about to get up but then a familiar face with a face mask and gloves walked over and gently pushed him back onto the hospital bed he was in

Y/n: Oh...hi, Shoko.

Shoko: You've definitely seen better days.

Y/n: It was nothing serious...

Shoko: Don't move. You were in seriously bad shape when you were taken back here. I'm surprised you actually survived.

Shoko then looks at Y/n's scar

Shoko: That looks like it was healed with Reverse Cursed Technique

Y/n: Yeah...I think I picked it up at some point whilst fighting. I don't really remember when though

Shoko: Good thing you did. Without it, you'd be dead

Shoko takes off her mask and then lights a cigarette. Y/n faces Shoko

Y/n: I need to leave. I gotta see how Yuji is doing...

Shoko: Worry about yourself first, please.

Y/n: I'm FINE!

Shoko: You're anything but

Y/n starts moving his arm while smiling

Y/n: I've never felt better~!

Shoko looks at Y/n with a serious expression

Shoko: Y/n. Stop ignoring how you feel. Grieve.

Y/n: Grieve...?

Y/n notices a tear rolling down his face. Shoko wipes it with a handkerchief in her surgical uniform pocket

Shoko: Stop ignoring how you feel, Y/n.

Y/n: ...Did you hear what happened with Nobara...?

Shoko: Nothing to report at the moment. It hasn't been that long since the incident, I'll need more time to confirm how she's truly doing.

Y/n: ...right

Y/n holds his face in his hands and groans tiredly

Shoko: Be prepared for the worst outcome all right?

Y/n: This should've never happened...If I was just a little faster, stronger, smarter...it-

Shoko: You can't change what happened Y/n. It's not your burden to carry in the first place.
