"I (huff) I could've sworn the beacons came from here?" Jinto exhaled, surveying the area. "It smells burnt around here.... But it's familiar. Her flames always smelt like that! She must really be near!"Several meters ahead of him, the extricated traveller stopped in the middle of some hillocks, shrouded by the shadowy clouds. She spotted Jinto down below, just standing there, lost in his thoughts. His presence felt familiar to her, although she had never met him in person before. Curious, she crept nearer and peered into the darkness, awaiting the moonlight to unveil the details of his shaded face.
Jinto inhaled deeply, as the grass rippled in the breeze like oceanic waves. His sight was dazzled by the spilt glitter in the sky, gleaming oh so bright. The moon drew apart the grey clouds like curtains, revealing its illustrious face. Its borrowed rain of light was soothing and seductive, whilst its beauty spots captivated all who beheld them.
The traveller gasped! At last, she saw it. His face. It resembled that she-devil she had just ran into! Save for the amber eyes...
Is he another one of them? Is he with that Damar monster? Oh no... he-he's looking this way. Please, please-please-please don't notice me! Don't notice me! He's walking towards my location! Can he see me!?
"I can feel it. She's near. Whenever I was with her, whenever she was close by, I'd always get a strange feeling. As if something inside was changing. I'd feel like I can do anything. I'd feel more... powerful..." Jinto muttered as he approached the silhouette atop the hillocks.
Woosh...
The wind delicately blew and the clouds migrated, as the two fatefully locked eyes.
Together, they stared at one another. Transfixed. Entranced.
"Oh my God... his eyes are..." the traveller whispered, startled by the fleeting flash of amber in them!
HE'S ONE OF THEM...
WOOOOSH!
Once more, the wind howled viciously! And the traveller bolted in the opposite direction to Jinto!
"HEY! WAIT!?" Jinto yelled as he gave chase. "Are you Damar!?"
A peculiar luminesce emanated from her feet, enabling her to zigzag inhumanly. The Melanin man trailed slightly behind until she began to tire.
The pursued one came to a vast lake.
TUP-TUP-TUP-TUP!
Jinto's running footsteps drew nearer to her like a receding shadow!
"Dammit..." she uttered.
She looked at the lake.
Looked back at him.
Then took several steps backwards, preparing to make a desperate dash to clear the lake in a single leap! But alas, her body betrayed her efforts, and she collapsed to the ground like a levelled tree.
