Elena knew it was crazy to stay in the car with Stefan, but she had been drinking and he offered her a ride home.

The moment Elena got in the car, Stefan became unhinged, far from the boy she once knew and loved – was this the true Stefan and the one she had fallen for was a façade?

No.

It couldn't be true. Not after everything they went through.

Damon, the tomb Vampires, Katherine, and now Klaus and his hybrid army.

Stefan sped through the town of Mystic Falls, Elena noticed that he didn't go down the street that led to her home or to the Salvatore Boarding house, she glanced over at him.

"You missed the turn off back there," She spoke, pulling out her phone as a text from Jeremy appeared only for Stefan to snatch it and throw it out the window. "Hey! Okay, you're really starting to scare me Stefan, let me out of the car."

When he did not answer her, Elena sighed as Stefan was too busy typing something on his phone.

"Stefan stop the car!"

"What is it now, Damon?" Klaus spoke in a taunting voice towards the older Salvatore brother, not really bothered by Damon's sudden need to speak with him. "You pulled me away from a very interesting conversation about landscaping the town square."

Obviously, that was a lie. The mayor had been talking Klaus's ear off for the past hour trying to get donations for the landscaping project and Klaus was seriously holding himself back from ripping out Mayor Lockwood's heart just so the woman would shut up, thankfully, his saving grace came in the form of Damon Salvatore.

Klaus looks at the painting that was hanging on the wall, pondering if he could kill Damon now and make it back in time to hear the end of the conversation about the town square.

"Stefan just grabbed Elena."

Klaus let out a scoff, turning to face Damon with a smirk pasted on his lips. "He's getting desperate. Grasping at straws, if you will."

"He took Elena to try and use her against you." Damon growled, annoyed that Klaus didn't see the urgency in the matter. "Do what he says. Get rid of your hybrids."

"Or what?" Klaus taunted, smelling the random flower bouquet that was on the table. "Stefan would never hurt her. You and I both know that, Damon."

"Are you sure? I don't believe that- he just tried beheading someone in the council cause he was bored." Damon replied, trying to make Klaus see reason.

This was Elena's life on the line.

"He's operating on crazy right now."

"Crazy or not, that kind of love never dies," Klaus spoke, some humour behind his tone. "He's bluffing."

"If you don't believe him, then believe me. I know my brother- yes, he's desperate at the moment." Damon was now toe to toe with Klaus. "But right now, I'm not even sure how far he's willing to go. If she dies, Elena's blood will be on your hands."

Klaus scoffed at Damon's words, obviously Stefan wouldn't kill Elena Gilbert, he loves the human doppelganger and when Klaus was about to point that out, Damon cornered him, which annoyed Klaus more than the Salvatore's threat.

"So, if he says blink, you better blink."

"What's your plan then, huh?" Elena asked, sighing out in frustration as her pleas fell onto deaf ears. "Is this your big move against Klaus? Kidnapping?"
