It had been a few days since the ball but to Elena it had been months – Kol had successfully asked Bonnie to aide them with unlinking spell, with a condition that they only know, Elena didn’t push on the subject as it was between them.

But she was pretty sure it had to do with Jeremy.

Bonnie just sat there, skimming through Esther’s grimoire with a raised eyebrow to Klaus’s many threats, but the Bennett witch was reluctant to help – which annoyed him even more, Klaus swears that she was doing it purposely.

“Fine,” Bonnie sighed, rolling her eyes. “But, if this goes south, don’t blame me.” She glanced at Klaus, when she said that. “I’m not exactly experienced in breaking another witch’s curse.”

“Of course, Miss Bennett.” Elijah replied, fixing his tie. “Come, Kol and I have some books that may be of use.”

Bonnie left with Esther’s grimoire to study, the spell itself was already complicated and she needed time to study it.

A day and many cups of coffee later, Bonnie returned to the Mikaelsons, annoyed as Elena cut off her caffeine supply but she was ready to aide the Original family – mainly Kol, due to their deal.

Klaus glanced over Bonnie’s shoulder as she unwrapped a large parchment of paper with the Mikaelsons names written in Viking runes, Elena’s name was in the middle.

Why was her name there?

“Klaus, this spell is already complicated enough,” Bonnie spoke not looking up at the Hybrid. “And it’ll become even more complicated with you hovering over my shoulder.”

“I’m just curious as to why Elena’s name is there, in the middle.”

Bonnie straightened, rubbing the back of her neck. “Her blood was used to link you all, from what I’ve read, the magical properties in her blood can be used to unlink you and your siblings.”

Elijah returned with a vial mixed with the Mikaelson siblings blood, Finn was reluctant to hand over his blood as he still saw himself and his siblings as monsters.

Elena had also shown up, Klaus was surprised that she left the safety of the Lake house – for them.

“What are you doing here?”

I invited her,” Bonnie spoke, pulling Elena closer to the table. “Elena’s blood was used to link you all, so I thought about channelling the magical properties in her blood as a magic boost for the unlinking spell.”

To say it was awkward, was an understatement- Elena and Klaus were trying so hard not to acknowledge each other, Bonnie looked over the spell once again, to get the familiarity of it all and Elijah was finding it all a little humorous.

Klaus, the ‘Big Bad Hybrid’ afraid to look at a human.

“Time’s up, little witch.” Bonnie arched an eyebrow at Klaus, Elena looked at him annoyed at Elijah stifled a chuckle in his glass of Scotch. “Sorry, Bonnie.”

The Bennett witch rolled her eyes, turning to face Elena, giving her a small smile. “I’m going to channel you Elena, as this may require a magical boost.” She spoke, completely ignoring Klaus. “You may feel a pull, but whatever happens – don’t fight it.”

Elena nodded her head as Bonnie took hold of her hands, the Bennett witch began to chant something in a language that Elena never heard of but yet, she understoodevery word; it came as surprise to the two Original vampires as Elena began chanting along with Bonnie.

There was a glint of red magic coursing through Elena’s veins, Klaus immediately noticed and was about to say something when Elijah shook his head – if they stop now, who knows what would happen.

Red vine-like lines of pure magic circled around Elena, Bonnie poured the vial that contained the mixed blood onto the parchment paper and joined Elena in chanting again.

Elijah and Klaus watched as the red lines pulled and twisted the puddle of blood, drawing an Oak tree, soon the blood was twisting again and this time – they were separating in different directions, heading towards the names on the paper.

Elena slightly jumped as the dying ambers of the fireplace suddenly burst, the chanting stopped and Esther’s grimoire snapped closed, the magical vine-like lines immediately recoiled back into Elena’s body and the doppelganger slightly was unsteady on her feet.

Bonnie handed the grimoire to Elijah. “It’s done.”

“Thank you, Miss Bennett.”

Klaus escorted both girls to the door, Bonnie paused as something or someone hanging caught her attention.

Damon.

“Oh, my God...”

Elena glanced up, noticing the older Salvatore brother hanging from the ceiling by chains and ropes, there were swollen welts around his wrists – the rope must be soaked in vervain.

There were a number of different wounds across his chest that failed to heal, probably due to lack of human blood in his system, soon Rebekah came into view.

“Like the view, Elena?” Rebekah teased, producing a vervain laced knife, her eyes landed on Bonnie. “Thank you for saving us, Bonnie.”

“Elena helped.”

Klaus took hold of Bonnie’s elbow. “Let’s leave my sister to her fun.”

Damon groaned out in pain, his eyes immediately fell onto Elena, looking hopeful – was she there to help him?

“... Elena...”

He watched with pure shock as Elena just turned her back and walked away, wasn’t she going to plead with Klaus to let him go?

Why was she walking away?

Was this how she felt when Stefan walked away from her when she was dying?

Damon groaned again as Rebekah dragged the vervain laced knife across his chest again, sure he used the ruse of sharing a connection with blonde original as ploy into gaining information on what Klaus had planned - but he didn’t think she’d catch on quick.

Especially since she was smitten with Matt Donovan of all people, but Rebekah Mikaelson was smarter than she looked.

It had been a week since Esther’s plan backfired, but she was not done yet.

Esther vowed to undo what she created, but she forgot how powerful the allurance of the Petrova doppelganger could be.

Esther hissed in pain as where Elena burnt her failed to heal – what kind of magic was this? None of her healing spells or herbal remedies worked, it was as if it was a curse.

How could a simple human girl contain such power?

Esther knew her children were searching the town for her, but they failed to even think of checking the house that harboured the spirits of deceased witches, some were even willing to link with her to end the Originals.

Others, like the Bennett witches were reluctant to join, Shelia and Emily mostly, as they had befriended vampires during their lives.

Unknown to them all- Esther had a backup plan.

One that would make her bastard son, Niklaus, have a difficult choice to make.

Yes. She will get her revenge all she needed was a willing occupant or someone easily to manipulate, like she had done with Finn.

But he had failed her, the moment that whore – Sage, came back into his life.

Perhaps Esther can use someone very close to Elena - perhaps her brother?

Or that supposed retired vampire hunter that is now the guardian of both Gilbert children?

Yes.

She will most definitely get her revenge.
