Zayshawn pov

Man, being a football player at Simon Gratz High was lit. Everyone knew who I was, but I also had my eye on Tamia. She was the baddest cheerleader, and I was determined to make her mine.

"Yo, Zay! You ready for the game next week?" Jamaica asked as we chilled at lunch.

"Always! You know I'm gonna score that winning touchdown," I replied, puffing out my chest like I was the best fb player of the school.

But my mind kept drifting back to Tamia. She was sitting at the cheerleading table, looking so fly in her black and gold gear. I knew I had to step up my game if I wanted her to notice me.

"Yo, I'm thinking about asking Tamia to the movies after the game. What you think?" I said, trying to sound confident.

"Go for it, man! You gotta shoot " Jamaica told me, dapping me up.

As the bell rang, I decided to take a chance. I walked over to Tamia and smiled. "Yo, Tamia! You trying to catch a movie with me after the game?"

She looked up, surprised look on her face. "Uh, yeah! That sounds fun!" she replied, a shy smile creeping onto her lips.

"Bet! It's a date," I said, feeling like I had just won the lottery.

Tamia pov

Being a cheerleader at Simon Gratz was everything I dreamed of, especially since I got to ptso and support my team. But the real highlight was my connection with Zayshawn.

"Girl, did you see how Zay just asked you out?" Ki'niya said, her eyes wide with excitement.

"Yeah, I can't believe it! I mean, he's so cute!" I squealed, trying to play it cool.

"You need to tell him how you feel! You two would have the best relationship," Ki'niya encouraged.

The rest of practice flew by in a blur of energy and cheers. When we finished, I found Zayshawn waiting for me.

"Hey, I was thinking maybe we could get some food before the movie?" he suggested, trying to act nonchalant.

"Yeah, that sounds great! I know this spot that has the best fries," I said, my heart racing.

As we walked out together, I felt like everything was falling into place. Maybe this was the start of something real between us.
