"--ysterious winds easily reaching up to ninety-four miles per hour in some places along the coast--"
The person currently sat on the couch, eating some chips, was me, Blake. Extremely bored right now, since I've got nothing to do except watch the news. If it wasn't for this storm, I'd be out there spending at the nearby mall arcade a few miles out with the boys. Wonder how they're dealing with the weather by the way?
Honestly, it was a blessing at first. A few weeks without a single drop of moisture, but suddenly a downpour occurs? At the time, I immediately ran outside, threw away my shirt, and took a heavy shower. I laughed when the neighbors followed suit. It was so sudden that it genuinely baffled the weather people that do the weather math to predict where the weather fallout will take place. But I didn't care, until now. It's already been a few days, and I miss that moment.
As I stood up from my couch, I suddenly heard a LOUD blast of lightning. Walked to my nearest window and looked outside. The scene that I saw would be kind of terrifying, to say the least.
Powerful winds thrashed trees back and forth, trash bins flying down the street--their contents spilling out; already felt bad on who's going to clean up all of this after. I took a deep breath, and refreshed myself.Out of nowhere, I heard a strange sound. It was coming from outside, so I opened the window and looked out. Leaned out and saw a stranded little fella on my outdoor plastic chair. It cawed at me.
"I guess you're stuck, eh?"
I immediately headed back inside and grabbed some peanuts from the kitchen. Smashed some pieces and gave 'em to the bird. He must've been here for a while now. Fortunately I heard him, so all's fine now."Here you go buddy."
The bird hesitated at first; after a while, it flew over to the window and began to eat the bits on my palm. After it finished, it stayed inside the house and didn't go out. It flew over to the kitchen counter and stared at the bowl of peanuts. I guess he wanted more."What a smart guy."
After assisting him, I then went back to the couch and continued watching the news about the storm. When is it going to end?* * *
"--hile hurricanes and other storms usually have a source, this one just came out of thin air--"
"--ve been multiple reports of people suddenly disappearing all over the country, especially in areas hit by the so called 'Red-Zone' phenomenon--"
"--rts at the NWS are struggling to explain--"
* * *
I grabbed a can of soda from the glass table in front and opened it. It fizzled as the gases inside were released. Took a sip, then chugged it all down.
"Aah~ that was refreshing..."
My stomach grumbled, followed by a burp.
"Whoops, sorry."Grabbed the remote, aimed it at the TV, and turned it off. I was getting tired on all of their nonsense. If an anomalous thing exists, then it's not an anomaly--simple as. We just need to find something so we can explain it. I've got so much more to say, but I think I'll just fumble hard because I don't know some of the terms I've thought for it or something.
"Hah..."
But then, literally out of nowhere, the lights flickered. Oh no, is it happening?
I immediately reached for my phone in my pocket and prepared for the worst. After a few minutes, or moments, the power went out. Turned on the flashlight, and looked around.
Absolutely pitch black. The entire neighborhood went dark. I could see my neighbors' flashlights through my windows. Guess they're checking out the other houses.
Looked at my battery percentage; forty-seven percent. This might last for the entire night if I conserve it long enough for the power to go back on again.
