The silent night.
Small critters scavenged, birds slept in their nests, and predators of the night stalked their prey.
All of that was suddenly interrupted by loud bands echoing from a distance.
A pack of shadowy figures raced through the forest at lightning speed, heading towards where the source of the noise was. They slowed down when they reached the end of the forest, and from there they saw the cause of it all: a man, repeatedly stomping on the ground.
They could smell the scent of one of their members in the air, but where was he? They looked around, only to find a small, but noticeable black puddle with a familiar smell. It was him. It was their member."Looking for me, or your kind?"
The man uttered in a calm voice as he looked at them, his eyes filled with bloodlust. The beasts felt rage upon seeing him step forward, and one fell blind to his emotions and instincts. It charged forward with its fangs ready to sink into the man's throat in a moment.
But just as it was about to reach him, the beast froze mid-air. The man already predicted this. Long, sharp claws, each blade the size of a kitchen knife, emerged from his left hand and punctured its body with ease. He looked at the creature and held it up high like a trophy.SLICE! He closed up the claw, slicing clean through the beast's flesh, dicing its head into chunks. Blood splayed onto the ground as the corpse fell onto his feet. It didn't stop there, however. Tendrils sprouted out from his body and attached themselves to the corpse. It pulled the fallen beast into his body, and in just a moment, it was gone.
"Shit, it was the mother of that one, huh?"
He chuckled at the sight of the rest staring at him with flaming yellow eyes. They were going berserk."Oh, don't worry fellas, because y'all be joining them inside me."
They all rushed forward, fueled by irrational rage. The battle went on for a few minutes before a clear victor was decided. Standing atop a pile of blood, the man consumed the corpse of the last victim.
Never thought I'd love killing fantasy animals, haha...

I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping around me. I guess I can still sleep for a few hours, huh? That's nice... but what wasn't nice was the thick smell of blood in the air. Ugh, why? Why did I sleep near that disgusting puddle I made a few hours ago?
I dusted off the dirt from my back and looked at the path towards the unknown. Hah, I guess it's time to leave. Alright, let's keep going down this one. No clue where it leads to but whatever. I don't have to worry about hunger or shelter, so here we go! Marching through the sketchy pathway in a forest with no care in the world!
The ultimate isekai adventure awaits me at the end of this road!
...Also, I'm gonna test out my abilities while on the way so... let's do that!
First off, the new things. After consuming those tiger-dog animals, I noticed my senses ramp up. I could hear better, see better, and smell better. I also felt that I was faster! Like, I could probably outpace a cheetah if I got serious enough. I could probably do some "zigzag" dashes like a goddamn ninja if I could consume more "fast" things.
Second, the CLAWS! Sharp, easy to use, and extremely deadly. I haven't tested if I could use the "Groundspike" ability yet. Let's try it out now!I manifested the claw on my right hand and inspected it. Then, I dug it into the ground and looked at the distance. I visualized the spikes emerging from the ground and focused on manipulating the biomass within me to go there and replicate it.
...Yes, I feel it. It's going underneath the ground, doing exactly what it was supposed to. I'm gonna throw everything I have into this, so let the result be good....Okay...Good...Better...Time it perfectly......NOW!
A dozen meters away, was the ground spike that I'd been waiting for. It shot up from the ground, impaling a large boulder and splitting it in half. Smaller spikes followed upon its wake after emerging out of the largest one, adding more devastation to the attack.
Yes! It worked flawlessly! The charge time for the ability was too slow though, so it's just going to be a flashy attack rather than a practical one unless I hasten it up somehow. Practice and training are key to everything.
