...Such a shame...
I tried to test out my abilities for half an hour, but I couldn't manage to figure out how to create the powers from the game. I tried everything. Forcing all of my energy onto my hands, visualizing the things I want to create in my mind, muttering out 'keywords' like an edgelord, but nothing worked.
Hah, but no worries. It's probably just because I'm still not used to the virus yet, or I just don't have enough biomass. To get stronger, I need to consume a lot of things. In the first game, Mercer gains powers by getting the DNA of his enemies. For example, he'll get claws when he consumes a "Hunter." It's a pure form created by the virus from water towers that were turned into incubating chambers, or in "hives," which were probably office buildings that were repurposed to mass produce them in the hundreds.
In the second game, Heller gains his version of the claws by consuming a "Brawler" born from "pustules," which are a better re-skin of the infected water towers from the first game. The pustules can only be found in "lairs," which are just hives but located underground and on steroids.
This kind of system repeats itself in the second game many times over, while the first game relies on a shop system to get your required upgrades, powers, or boosts. When Heller eats something, he gains new powers in return. When Mercer eats something, he gets "Evolution Points" to get some good upgrades from the shop. Let's apply all that knowledge to this situation.I need something, preferably an animal, with either sharp claws or some tough hands so I can become stronger. I probably only need one victim, since it worked for Mercer when he consumed a single hunter. To be sure, the thing needs to be like a wolf, or a bear. I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a lot of those in a forest like this, so I'm not gonna be worried... unless if it's too powerful for my own good.
Alright, it's time to test out my durability and combat skills. It's getting dark, chirping crickets all around, some green fireflies flying in my area, all I need to do now is to make some noise. I'm gonna need one that's louder than the previous shockwave attacks I did, since nothing came when I did those. Should I do a simple, but loud screech? Let's try that out.
"Eh-hem... hem..."
I huffed and screamed."AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
... Nothing really happened after a few minutes for some reason. I guess that was too weak of a scream. Hm, can I like... tamper with my voice box? It's possible, so I should give it a try. So how can I do this...
I started on sending all of my energy from my body towards my throat. I felt like it was a bit too excessive, so I dispersed some of it back down. I then started to change the soft walls of the... ... ...
To be honest, I don't know what I'm doing. I shouldn't even be doing this in the first place, since I already have a reliable and safer option in my hands. Let's stop before I do something bad....
"Testing."
Fuck, I already did something bad. How can I change this back?
...
"𝔗𝔢𝔰𝔱𝔦𝔫𝔤."
Huh? What even was that?
...
".ₜₑₛₜᵢₙg."
AH NO! NOT THAT!
...
"𝙏𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜."
Honestly it feels intimidating and cool, but no.
...
"𝕋𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘."
No. Go back.
...
"Ŧ€ŞŦƗŇǤ."
