A date? with an alpha
════✧ ⍣ ✧ ⍣ ✧ ⍣ ✧ ⍣ ✧═════Wonderful. This is just wonderful!
By the looks of this, he remembers me.Well...I did leave quite the impression.
I wanna bury myself."I asked a question little lady" He asked with a lazy smirk, still not letting go of you wrist.
"With all due respect, that is none of your business" You said in a flat tone, hoping your response would let him withdraw from any further conversation with you.
Oddly enough instead all that did was make his smirk widen, and this puzzled you. Weirdo.
Toji let go of your wrist and before you could speak up he beat you to it, "How bout a break doll?"
"I don't have time for breaks," you replied, keeping your tone cool, determined not to let him sway you.
He stepped a little closer, the crowd swirling around you two. "Just one meal. It's on me."
You raised an eyebrow. "You think I'll be tempted by a free meal? That's quite brazen of you."
"What can I say, I like to leave an impression." he countered, his voice smooth like the flowing river nearby. "You're missing out. There's a stall over there that has the best dumplings in town."
You hesitated. The scent of the dumplings drifted toward you making it harder for you to resist. However you were determined to maintain your distance. "I appreciate the offer, but I really should get back. And besides you seem like the type of guy who doesn't have money, no offence."
He shrugged, and shamelessly admitted. "I do but I usually just gamble it all. But snow white and goldy locks are good for it."
You eyed him skeptically, trying to read the playful challenge in his expression. "I'll make it quick. Besides, I promise to behave myself."
His paying...well ish...but still paying."Fine. What kinda idiot would reject free food." You said you folded you arms and looked at him only to be met with a smug smirk that practically said "knew you would fold"
Tsk. I hate when men know they're fine.
"Wipe that stupid grin off your face before I do it for you." You grumbled walking towards the stall Toji had pointed to.
Toji followed close behind, his steps purposeful yet relaxed, a hint of amusement lighting his features. He had never encountered someone quite like you before. You spoke your mind freely, utterly unbothered by rank or status, and showed no sign of the fear or infatuation that typically greeted his imposing presence. Most people were either intimidated by his towering physique and commanding aura or hopelessly charmed, eager to win his attention. But you were different: neither overwhelmed nor openly enamored, and that intrigued him. Was it possible you felt no attraction at all, or were you simply a master at concealing your true emotions?
As the two of you reached the food stall, you made a deliberate effort to maintain a careful distance from him, still haunted by the embarrassment of last night's events. Toji purchased the dumplings and, with an unexpected gesture, handed the entire serving to you. When you offered to split them, he declined with a firm shake of his head, leaving you to shrug and accept his generosity.
You found an unoccupied bench tucked behind the stall, slightly removed from the lively, bustling streets. Settling there together, the hum of the crowd softened, creating a small pocket of tranquility amidst the chaos of the marketplace.
You took a bite of the steam bun and you groaned, eyes rolling to the back of your head; it was one of the best things you had ever tasted.
Toji let out a low chuckle and asked, with an amused expression, if it was that good. You responded with an enthusiastic nod, your delight unmistakable.
"You sure you don't want one?" You asked once more.
"You gonna feed it to me?"
"Absolutely not. You have hands don't you" you said side eyeing him.
"Then I won't eat," Toji declared, puffing out his chest in a mock display of defiance. You couldn't help but snort in amusement. "Is that supposed to be a threat?"
"No," he replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes, "but this is." Without warning, Toji grabbed the basket of dumplings and began to stride away.
"Wait, what?! Hold on—bring that back here!" you called out, jumping to your feet and trailing after him. "Okay, okay, I'll feed you! Just give me back the food."
Toji halted, a triumphant smile spreading across his face as he waited for you to catch up. With a reluctant sigh, you took one of the buns from the basket and lifted it toward his lips. He leaned in, taking his time, and dramatically bit into the warm, steamed bun, never breaking eye contact with you. The playful intensity in his gaze only deepened your exasperation.
I might just die. You internally screamed, but from the outside you held your emotionless expression nonetheless still holding eye contact with Toji.
Suddenly, the town bell, signifying that it was almost time for the sun to set. The sound of it helped snap you both out of whatever trance you had fallen in.
"Would you look at the time. I really must be going." You said, stepping back and creating some distance between you two.
"See ya around doll" Toji said with a smirk before walking off and disappearing in the crowd.
That wasn't so bad. You thought to yourself with a small smile as you made your way back to the manor.
