After the alphas left, you wrapped yourself in a robe from the hot spring lobby. As you emerged, you found a servant already waiting with a fresh set of clothes—courtesy of Geto and Gojo, of course. The sight made you roll your eyes, but you didn't have the energy to argue with their overbearing gestures.
Once dressed, the thought of making a run for it crossed your mind, but it was fleeting. You had no idea where you were, much less how to navigate your way to safety. And even if you managed to escape, the scent trail you'd leave behind would make it child's play for them to track you.
Frustration simmering, you decided to focus on one thing at a time. Food. At least if you were going to be stuck in this bizarre situation, you could do it on a full stomach. You made your way to the inn's dining hall—quaint but elegant, the kind of place that felt more like a serene retreat than a simple eatery.
Inside, your eyes scanned the room, eventually landing on two travelers—a boy and a girl sitting at a corner table. For some reason, their eyes kept darting toward you, their expressions unreadable. At first, you tried to ignore it, but as the glances continued, irritation flared in your chest.
Unable to take it any longer, you marched up to their table and slammed your hand down, startling them both.
"Okay, out with it. Why do you both keep looking at me like that?" you demanded, mimicking their perplexed stares.
The girl smiled apologetically, raising her hands as if to calm you.
"Sorry! We didn't realize we were staring so much." Her tone was light, but there was something omnious in her posture.
The boy, however, simply bowed his head in agreement, as if trying to diffuse the tension without speaking.
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. "No, I'm sorry. I'm just... kind of on edge right now." Without thinking, you slid into the seat across from them, too tired to care if it was an intrusion.
The girl's smile softened into something more understanding. "It's okay. Really." There was a brief pause before she added curiously,
"If you don't mind me asking, why are you here?"
Your brow furrowed. "Huh?"
She quickly reworded, waving a hand as if to dismiss the awkward phrasing. "I could've worded that better. I mean, why is an omega... here. Alone. With no mate. Do you realize how vulnerable you are?"
Her tone wasn't judgmental, but it hit a nerve nonetheless. Your lips pressed into a thin line as her question hung in the air, uncomfortably highlighting just how precarious your situation truly was. Your stomach twisting at the girl's words. "An omega. Alone. With no mate."
