HAPPY WITH HER

Lisa's radiant smile puzzled Mariah. "Spill the beans," Mariah said, settling onto Lisa's bed. "What's behind this grin?"

Lisa's voice dropped to a whisper. "Come closer."

Mariah leaned in, intrigued.

"I went to the amusement park with him last night," Lisa confessed, giggling.

Mariah's eyes widened. "You didn't!"

Lisa nodded, her smile broadening. "I felt free for the first time. The excitement was evident, even in fades from my sight. The screams on each ride, the wind in my hair... it was exhilarating. And the food? Perfect!"

Mariah's expression turned serious. "Be careful, Lisa. There's something about him I don't trust."

Lisa dismissed her concern with a laugh. "Oh, Mariah, he's kind and sweet."

Mariah's next words made Lisa laugh uncontrollably. "I think you're developing feelings for him."

Lisa wiped tears from her eyes, still chuckling. "Impossible! I couldn't fall for him."

Mariah's solemn tone persisted. "I'm warning you, Lisa. Something feels off."

Lisa's laughter faded, replaced by a thoughtful gaze.

Lisa waited anxiously for Dean, but the torrential rain outside made her worry. "Maybe he won't come tonight?" she thought.

Just then, Dean burst into her room, shaking off the rain. "It's freezing out there!" he exclaimed, closing the window behind him.

Lisa rushed to him with a towel. "Are you insane? You came despite the rain?"

Dean smiled, taking the towel. "I was already on my way when it started."

Lisa turned on the heater, and they sat together, warmth enveloping them.

"I guess you're stuck here until the rain passes," Lisa said, a hint of mischief in her voice.

Dean grinned. "Do you have any games?"

"Chess?" Lisa suggested.

Dean chuckled. "You can't be serious. I lost to a blind girl once."

Lisa teased, "Just admit I'm smarter than you."

Dean laughed. "Rematch!"

Lisa obliged, and won again. "Unbelievable!" Dean exclaimed, laughing along with Lisa.

As they played, Lisa asked, "Can I ask you something?"

"Go ahead," Dean replied.

"Why do you still help me, despite knowing the consequences?" Lisa's question hung in the air.

Dean's smile faded, and an uncomfortable silence followed.

Finally, he spoke, his voice low and introspective. "I know the consequences, but I just can't bring myself to stop helping you."

The room fell silent once more, the only sound the rain pattering outside.

.........................

Dean's phone call with his boss left him unsettled. "Have you found her?"

"No, sir," Dean lied, his conscience fighting him.

"Should we abort the mission temporarily?"

Dean hesitated, his mind racing with the consequences. "No, sir."

"Proceed with your instincts."

Dean ended the call, turmoil arching in his chest. "I should have aborted. I don't want to do this anymore."

Meanwhile in the mansion, Lisa's slender fingers danced across the piano keys, the melancholic melody echoing through her room. She sensed Dean's presence, her skin prickling with awareness.

"You're incredibly talented for a blind girl," Dean said, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine.

Lisa's heart skipped a beat.
"What are you doing here? Are you crazy?" Her voice trembled.

Dean's warm breath caressed her ear. "I couldn't wait for nightfall to see your beautiful face."

Lisa's thoughts scattered "Did he really say that?" Her cheeks flushed.

"You're putting yourself in danger by coming here during the day," Lisa warned.

Dean's gaze lingered.
"You worry about me, don't you?"

Lisa's pulse quickened. "No, I don't."

Dean's smile hinted at triumph. "Your face tells a different story."

Lisa shifted uncomfortably, her skin sensitive to Dean's proximity.

"Could you excuse me for a second?"
She excited the room to find Mariah.

"Mariah!"

"My lady."

She further instructed.
"Don't let anyone in my room okay?" She whispered.

"Okay." She whispered with a grin and left.

"And I want double my lunch. I'd carry it myself."

"Yes my lady."

Back in her room, Lisa's hands trembled as she carried lunch.

"Here! I brought lunch."

Dean's words echoed. "I'll be satisfied just watching you."

Lisa's sauce nearly spilled. "You're talking nonsense."

Dean's gaze never wavered. "I'm telling the truth. You care for me."

"That's nonsense." She claimed.

Detective Ken pored over the case files, his eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. The case frustrated him.

"This case is personal," he muttered to himself. "I won't rest until I uncover the truth."

As sunset approached, Lisa felt Dean's intense gaze like a physical touch.

"How long will you stay?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Dean's question sent her heart racing. "Do you want me to stay forever?"

Lisa's thoughts faltered.
"What's wrong with this guy?"

Dean leaned in, "You know, I'm important to you. You're bored without me."

Lisa forced herself to speak. "Move back."

Dean grinned, "You're flustered."

Lisa's cheeks burned. "No."

Dean's words lingered in her mind. "I'll watch you sleep."

Lisa scoffed, pretending to sleep, her heart racing.

I will really appreciate it if you vote and comment and I will keep on trying my best to become perfect.

Thank you.
