The warm sunlight spilled across the landscape, bathing everything in a radiant glow. The sky transformed into a brilliant blue canvas, with puffy white clouds drifting lazily.
It was a peaceful day even in the fire station but a worrisome one for one Natalie.
Natalie called out, "Michael."
"Yes?" he replied.
But before she could continue, a feminine voice interrupted.
"Hello, Mic!"
Michael's face lit up.
"Isabella!" he exclaimed, embracing her warmly.
Natalie's brow furrowed.
"Baby, it's been ages," Isabella said, beaming.
Michael playfully chastised, "Stop calling me that. We're not kids anymore."
She chuckled.
Natalie's jealousy simmered.
"Who the hell is this?" Natalie murmured
Michael inquired, "What brings you here?"
Isabella smiled.
"Just came to see my love. Any problem?"
Natalie cringed at the endearment.
"My love?" Natalie echoed, her thoughts in disdain.
Isabella gestured toward Natalie.
"Seemed you were having a conversation with her."
Michael hastily introduced them.
"Natalie, meet Isabella. Isabella, meet Natalie."
Isabella's greeting was warm,"Hi!"
Natalie's response was icy,"Hi."
"Sorry, can't sit here chit-chatting. I have to go." Natalie departed without waiting for a response.
She was fuming as she entered the dressing room slamming the door.
Then after, speaking her mind.
"How can he just stand there, smiling and laughing with Isabella, after what we did last night? Does he even care?As making out meant nothing to him. I meant nothing to him? Not that I even remember what happened.
The way he's looking at Isabella, with that charming smile... it's like he's never even seen me."
She paused in realisation.
"Why am I even bothered? It's not as if I like him."
She paused again.
"Then why do I feel........ jealous?"
Meanwhile in the hospital, Alice inquired over lunch, "How's your relationship going?"
Lisa hesitated,"Which relationship?"
"Nicolas, your boyfriend," Alice clarified.
Lisa smiled wistfully,"Oh, we broke up ages ago."
Alice's eyes widened,"Already? What happened?"
"He cheated."
"He's an asshole."
"Yeah. Never liked him though."
"So, any boy in mind?" Alice smirked.
You're pretty amazing yourself, Lisa,"
"Why did I just think of my neighbour?"
She laughed," Right now, my career is important. Not relationships."
"That's what they always say " Alice said as she left to the counter.
"Remember you have an upcoming surgery on Mrs. Sarah Smith.
She nodded.
