Jin had grown used to the fluttering feeling in his chest every time Jungkook smiled at him, every time his roommate playfully flirted or made him laugh. For months, he had let those moments fill his heart with hope, believing-perhaps foolishly-that something could grow between them. After all, there had been so many small gestures, so many lingering glances. Maybe, just maybe, Jungkook felt the same way.

But all that hope came crashing down one evening.

Jin had just finished cooking a simple dinner, ready to call Jungkook to the table, when the front door swung open, and Jungkook walked in, his arm draped over someone's shoulder. Jin froze, his smile fading as he took in the scene. It was Mingyu, one of Jungkook's close friends from his gaming group, but something was different this time. There was a closeness between them, a spark that Jin hadn't seen before.

"Jin! Look who's here!" Jungkook announced, his voice as carefree as always, oblivious to the turmoil building in Jin's chest. "Mingyu's staying over tonight."

Mingyu gave a shy wave, but it was the way Jungkook kept his arm around him, the way their fingers intertwined when they thought Jin wasn't looking, that hit Jin like a punch to the gut.

Jin forced a smile, swallowing the lump in his throat. "Oh, that's great. I, uh, made dinner if you guys want some."

Jungkook beamed at him, clearly unaware of Jin's inner turmoil. "You're the best, Jin. Seriously, what would I do without you?"

As they all sat down to eat, Jin tried to focus on the food in front of him, but his mind was elsewhere. Every laugh shared between Jungkook and Mingyu felt like another crack in his heart. He could see it not ,

The way Jungkook looked at Mingyu with that same playful affection he used on him. Only this time, it wasn't just flirting. It was real. Jungkook and Mingyu were together.

The realization settled in Jin's chest like a heavy stone.

When dinner was over, Jungkook and Mingyu retreated to Jungkook's side of the room, laughing and chatting like they were in their own little world. Jin retreated to his bed, pulling his book out to distract himself, but the words blurred on the page as his thoughts spiraled.

"So, you're with Mingyu now?" Jin asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper as he dared to glance over at them.

Jungkook looked up, slightly surprised. "Oh, yeah. We started dating a couple of weeks ago. It's been...nice."

"Nice," Jin repeated, the word echoing in his mind. His chest tightened, but he forced a smile. "I'm happy for you," he said, the lie bitter on his tongue.

Jungkook smiled brightly, completely unaware of the storm brewing in Jin's heart. "Thanks, Jin. I knew you'd be cool with it."

Jin turned away, unable to meet Jungkook's eyes any longer. He wasn't cool with it. Not at all. How could he be, when the person he had fallen for, the one who had made him believe there was something more between them, was now happily with someone else?

The night dragged on, and as Jungkook and Mingyu finally settled into bed, Jin lay in the darkness, staring at the ceiling. Every laugh, every whispered word between them felt like a knife twisting deeper into his chest. He had been so sure that maybe Jungkook's teasing and flirting meant something. But now he realized he had been reading too much into it.

Jin turned on his side, facing the wall, feeling a tear slip down his cheek. He had never imagined that loving someone could hurt this much, and he couldn't help but wonder if Jungkook would ever know the pain he was causing.

The next morning, Mingyu left early, and the dorm was quiet again. Jungkook stretched lazily, clearly in a good mood after his time with Mingyu. "Last night was fun," he said, smiling as he walked over to Jin, who was sitting at the table, staring into his untouched cup of coffee.

"Yeah," Jin muttered, not trusting his voice to say much more.

Jungkook tilted his head, studying him. "You okay? You seem off."

Jin forced a tight smile. "Just tired. Didn't sleep much."

Jungkook chuckled, oblivious. "Too much thinking about your Wattpad stories, huh?"

Jin just nodded, though it wasn't Wattpad stories keeping him up. It was the growing weight in his chest, the realization that the person he loved was happy with someone else. And all Jin could do was stand by and pretend it didn't hurt.

As Jungkook rambled on about his day's plans, Jin sat there, silently grieving the love he had never confessed.
