The air in the apartment felt different after that kiss-charged with unspoken feelings and the weight of decisions that needed to be made. Jin found himself wrestling with emotions that twisted and turned within him. Was he ready to accept the feelings he had for Jungkook? Did he want to risk it all for something so fragile? But just as he began to process everything, he found himself losing focus. The memory of that kiss lingered in his mind, a sweet torment that was difficult to shake off.
To avoid complicating things further, he spent most of his time in his room, burying himself in cooking and reading.
It was his way of coping, a way to drown out the storm of emotions raging within him.
One late afternoon, however, everything came crashing down.
Jin had decided to take a break from his solitude and emerged from his room, his heart heavy with uncertainty.
The faint sounds of laughter and muffled voices from the living room caught his attention, and against his better judgment, he approached, drawn in by the warmth of their camaraderie.
As he rounded the corner, the sight before him froze him in place. Jungkook and Mingyu were on the couch, tangled in each other's arms. The scene was intimate, too intimate for Jin to bear.
They were wrapped up in a world of their own, laughter and soft whispers exchanged between heated kisses.
Jin's heart plummeted, a sudden chill coursing through him. He felt as if the floor had fallen away, leaving him suspended in a moment that felt both surreal and painfully real.
He stood there, paralyzed by a wave of emotions that crashed over him-jealousy, anger, betrayal. Each feeling hit him like a punch to the gut.
But what hurt the most was the sight of Jungkook-the man he had just kissed-so openly affectionate with someone else. His heart screamed for him to look away, but he couldn't. He felt like a voyeur, trapped in a nightmare where he was both an outsider and a participant in this twisted game of emotions.
Just as his mind reeled, the atmosphere shifted. Jungkook's laughter faltered, and he pulled back slightly from Mingyu, his brow furrowing. "Wait... are you sure about this?" Jungkook asked, his voice laced with uncertainty.
Mingyu grinned, leaning in closer. "Come on, don't tell me you're having second thoughts. It's just us here, and it's fun!"
But there was a hesitation in Jungkook's eyes, a flicker of doubt that only made Jin's heart ache more. It was as if Jungkook's mind was somewhere else-caught in a conflict between desire and something deeper.
"I just... I don't know," Jungkook said, pulling away slightly.
The hesitation was palpable, and in that moment,
Jin felt a flicker of hope.
Maybe there was a part of Jungkook that still cared for him.
Or
Maybe their kiss hadn't been meaningless after all.
But just as quickly as that hope ignited, it was extinguished.
Mingyu noticed Jungkook's uncertainty, and the playful grin vanished from his face. "What's wrong? You're not going to pull away from me now, are you?" His tone shifted, laced with irritation.
Jin felt a pang of anger at Mingyu, his instincts screaming for him to intervene. But he stayed rooted to the spot, the moment stretching painfully as he fought against the urge to step forward.
"No, it's not that," Jungkook said quickly, his voice rising slightly as if he were trying to convince himself. "I've just been... busy."
"Busy? Busy with what?" Mingyu shot back, frustration evident in his voice. "With him? Are you really going to let him get in the way of us? You kissed him, didn't you? You can't keep pretending that's nothing!"
The words hung in the air, sharp and accusatory. Jin felt his heart shatter at the implication, the pain flooding him like a tidal wave.
He had hoped Jungkook would deny it, would stand up for him, but instead, he remained silent. The silence stretched painfully, each second feeling like an eternity.
"See?" Mingyu pressed, his voice turning colder. "You're still thinking about him, aren't you? Why can't you just choose? It's me or him, Jungkook! Stop stringing us both along. Just make a decision already!"
Jungkook sighed, the weight of the truth heavy on his shoulders. "Mingyu... it's complicated..."
Complicated. The word echoed in Jin's mind, cutting deeper than any knife could. It was a clear admission of everything he had feared, and suddenly, he felt so small, so insignificant. In this moment, he was the one left on the sidelines, a ghost in their world of passion and intimacy.
"Mingyu, please," Jungkook said, desperation creeping into his voice. "I'm not trying to hurt you. I just need time."
"Time?" Mingyu scoffed, shaking his head. "How much time do you need? I won't wait around while you play games with my heart! You have to choose now, or I'm out."
The confrontation was escalating, and Jin felt the sting of tears forming in his eyes. He wanted to yell, to scream at Mingyu for pushing Jungkook, for forcing him into this corner. But he stayed silent, feeling utterly powerless.
"Mingyu, stop! This isn't just about you!" Jungkook's voice rose in frustration, his eyes darting toward Jin for a split second, but then quickly back to Mingyu.
"But it should be!" Mingyu countered, his tone harsh, as he grabbed Jungkook's shoulders, shaking him slightly. "You can't act like you're torn between two people and expect me to just be okay with it! You need to make a choice! What do you want?"
Jungkook's gaze shifted again, and this time, it lingered on Jin. The hurt in his eyes was unmistakable, and it twisted something deep within Jin's chest. He felt like a coward, hiding away while the two of them fought over him like he was a prize. But he was also afraid. Afraid of what would happen if he stepped in, afraid of the pain that lay ahead no matter what choice Jungkook made.
"Mingyu..." Jungkook whispered, his voice cracking. "I..."
But before he could finish, Jin couldn't take it anymore. The suffocating tension, the weight of their emotions-it was too much to bear. Without another word, he turned on his heel and fled to his room, shutting the door behind him with a trembling hand. He sank against the door, his heart racing, tears streaming down his cheeks.
The sound of muffled laughter from the living room faded away, but the image of Jungkook and Mingyu remained etched in his mind. Jin's heart ached with betrayal, the reality of the situation crushing him. He had felt something special, something worth fighting for, but now it seemed like a distant dream.
Jin pulled his knees to his chest, letting the tears flow freely as he whispered into the silence, "Why does it hurt so much?"
He had known this was a possibility, but knowing didn't make it any easier. It felt like he was losing Jungkook, losing the one person he had grown to care for so deeply, and the thought was unbearable.
In that moment, Jin realized he had to confront his feelings, no matter how painful it might be. He had to make a choice-either accept the heartbreak or fight for what he wanted. But as the tears continued to fall, he wondered if it was already too late.
