I swore, on my soul and being, I saw something dark move in that deep lake. My eyes widened, and I felt the air get chilly. It was already cold, but it felt noticeably colder, and the sky turned dark.
"Do you feel this?" I ask Sapphire, who's staring at the darkened sky.
"Yes, I do.." Sapphire says, a little shaken. "This isn't normal." He adds.
"Well no shit it isn't normal, it went dark and the air got colde-" I'm cut off as he slaps his hand over my mouth, and I notice something in the water, something he's now staring at too.
A head of a skinny woman, peering out the dark water. Her eyes were just her eyesockets, and black blood, i'd assume, leaked out those empty eyesockets into the water. Her skin was a dark gray and her hair was long and black, flowing around her ontop the surface of the water. Her cheekbones were very pronounced and her jawline was sharp, like it was just her bones and skin.
"What the hell is that?" I ask, muffled due to Sapphire's hand firmly over mouth.
"Don't speak. Don't move." He orders to me in a whisper, but I was too incompetent to listen.
I slap his hand away from my face and peeled it off, which lead to the creature in the water staring directly at me before it lets out a loud roar, and it reveals it's entire body.
It shifted into a huge giantess, with 18 tentacles for legs and she was naked, but her long, wet black hair covered her breasts. She grew massive horns and her large first gem showed, floating above and inbetween the horns. It's a pink gem, but it's dull and cracked, with a black gloomy visible aura around it. Four massive snake like creatures came out her long hair. They're like eels, with glowing yet dull and sunken eyes and sharp teeth. Their spines were visible and some were half-necrotic and the flesh was gone in some bits, but they definitely were alive. She also has two other gems on the center of her chest and then the other on her abdomen, but they're noticeably smaller than the one between her horns. One is a dull green and the other is a dull orange.
".. Pezzottaite?" Sapphire asks it. I look at him strangely, because Sapphire had previously said that Pezzottaite was beautiful and not a horrifying monster that looked like Scylla from the Odyssey. I swear if I see a massive whirlpool too...
"Isn't she supposed to be a pretty, normal gem?" I ask before she roars again. It seems she can hear us pretty well. Sapphire glares at me before he turns back to the creature right as he gets slammed by one of it's massive tentacles, and is thrown at a intense velocity against a pine tree, the bark cracking as he coughs in pain. This is when I realized my ignorance has lead us to essential doom, if I continue.
I grab my dagger, and I dash at the sea monster, jumping onto her tentacle and stabbing it repeatedly. The creature wails in pain before I was inevitably thrown off, the tentacle launching me up and away. I landed hard against the ground, face first. Sapphire saw that I didn't move after being thrown, for as my mind was spinning and hurting. He runs over to me and shakes my body, trying to wake me up.
"Bailey! Bailey!!" He cries out before I sat up and rubbed my sore eyes.
"Guh.." I groan in pain. Sapphire looks at my pockets and he takes something out; the moonstone.
"Use this." He commands, taking my hands and placing the smooth, oval shaped stone into my hand. I readjust my vision so I can see properly before taking the stone and using it, Sapph backing up prior to the transformation.
I see a soft glow surrond me, like a circle of fireflies all around me. I can hear the soft weeps of Moonstone in my mind as her conscious fused with my own, and I can now hear her. I felt the soft moth wings erupt out my back as my body's genetics and structure changed; and yet it was not at all painful. I felt the development of antennae, fluffy sensitive sensors on my head, and my hair had grown more fluffy as a result of the new moth-like DNA with my own. My hair had also turned pale. A moonstone floated above my head and an sword appeared in my hand, Moonstone's sword.
The luminous energy that had formed around me dispersed, like an explosion. I look down at my new body before looking back up at the monster infront of me, one of it's snakes aiming for me due to the bright lights. I quickly took the sword, my fight-or-flight mode activated, and I timed when the snake head would come to me before I sliced it clean off, the head and it's body crumbling into dust.
"Take the gem inbetween her horns!" Sapphire instructs as he grabs his spear to wield, to fight her off, likely as a distraction. The large dulled horn floated above her massive horns, the presence of it magnificent.
I nod and I look at my wings. I never liked heights, but I suppose I don't have much of a choice, I flap my wings and I move myself quickly so she won't see me. I can hear Moonstone sobbing quietly in my mind...
"No please..! Don't kill her! She didn't ever want to be this way!" Moonstone cries out in my mind, but I ignore her pleas, as much as they strike my curiosity.I felt myself and wings glide through the air smoothly as I flapped them naturally. It's like I have moth instincts now too. I move to her dull pink gem, the massive precious stone over three times my size.
I hug my body around the massive gem before flapping my wings furiously, trying to take the gem. It's like it's held up magnetically, or in a orbit. It didn't help that the thing moved and tossed me around as the monster moved its head in order to try and see Sapphire, who's attacking her tentacles that are trying to grab onto him and wish squeeze the life out of his body.
I let out a grunt as I try to take this gem out, but it won't budge. Until suddenly, it loosened immediately and it fell out of the sky, taking me with it as I was beneath me. I let out a scream as I landed into the deep lake, and Pezzottaite had fallen. Her body fell into the water before crumbling, leaving behind black blood into the water and her dust. It seems ever gem dies different, too.
I felt myself stuck in the water as the heavy pink gem laid on top of me. I felt myself nearly drowning before someone grabbed my arm and swam up, unlodging me from beneath the sharp ane heavy stone. Sapphire, of course.
He puts me onto the grass as I cough up water, and he grabs the dull pink gem from the water and pulls it up onto the grass too. I watch him with my dizzy vision as he pulls up two more before they shrink into a regular size for a gemstone (even though they can be any size, I was mostly thinking about the stone that was on Moonstone's forehead, which was small.)
Sapphire picks up the gems and slides them into my pocket before lifting me up.
"Are you alright?" He asks, and I nod weakly.
"mm.. Yeah, just-" I'm cut off by a harsh cough as water spills out my mouth. "-Just lightheaded.." I finish my sentence as I sit up, gently hitting my chest to coerce the water out, which works as I cough up some algae and dark water. The sky also started to lighten back up, now with the lack of Pezzottaite's presence around.
I felt my wings being torn and my vision was nearly blind with the presence of intense lighten.
"Agh.." I grunt as I grab at the moonstone above my head and tear it out of its magnetic float thingy.I felt my body revert back as the stone was removed and my vision returned to normal. Sapphire had just watched the entire thing with a conflicted expression.
"Are you sure you're alright?" He asks and I glare at him, sensing his doubt in my responses.
"Yes." I respond, with a more assertive tone to keep my answer in his head. "It's just.. You never told me there would be that THING here.." I say as I stare at him with a 'what the fuck man' expression.
"I hadn't known it would be here either." He responds, guilt lacing his tone and my gaze softens as I think about my actions towards him. I should be grateful for this dude, hell, he could've just killed me when I first got here. But he's helping me and such.
"Oh.." I say, scratching my head. "Well, let's just continue setting up camp." I suggest and I go over to the ruined watchtower which now holds our stuff and our new site to train at and sleep in safely...
