______________________________________The morning sun was already spreading its golden rays across the sky, casting a soft glow on the preparations that had taken over Shekhawat house. The wedding mandap was being given its final touches by the workers, who were busy with decorations, ensuring that every detail was perfect for the grand day. The sound of panditji chanting mantras in the background echoed through the air, blending with the soft rustle of flowers and the clinking of glass bangles worn by the women bustling around.
But amidst all this celebration and joy, Taani sat in her room, alone and heartbroken. Her face was buried in her hands, her sobs muffled as tears streamed down her cheeks. The accusations Swayam had thrown at her were too painful to bear. He had always been her protective elder brother, her guiding light, and now, he was the one who believed the worst of her.
She hugged her knees to her chest, the weight of her brother’s words pressing down on her like a heavy burden. She also couldn’t forget the fight between Swayam and Rishi, the way her brother had stormed out of the house. That memory tore her apart even more.
Just then, her Taaiji—Rashmi, entered the room, having completed some rituals outside. She had been away during the chaos, so she had no idea about the turmoil that had unfolded in the house. But when she saw Taani sobbing uncontrollably, her heart clenched in worry.
"Taani beta, kya hua? Kyun ro rahi ho? Aaj tumhari shaadi hai, yeh aansu kyun? Batao mujhe."
[Taani dear, what happened? Why are you crying? Today is your wedding, why these tears? Tell me.]
Rashmi sat beside her, gently stroking her hair, trying to calm her down. Taani looked up at her, her eyes swollen and red from crying. She couldn’t hold back anymore. The moment Rashmi asked her, everything came rushing out.
"Taaiji... Swayam bhai... woh samajhte hain ki maine Rey se shaadi karne ke liye ye sab kuch plan kiya... unhone mujhe aur Taauji ko galat samajh liya. Kal raat woh Taauji se ladkar chale gaye... unhone mujhpar vishwas hi nahi kiya."
[ Aunt, Swayam. He thinks that I have planned all this to marry Rey... He said me and uncle are liars. Last night he went away after fighting with uncle...he didn't even trust me.]
Rashmi's eyes widened in shock as she listened to every word. How could Swayam, who had always been so close to Taani, think like this? How could he believe something so far from the truth?
"Swayam ko kya ho gaya hai? Yeh sab kaise soch liya usne? Tum aur Rishiji bas ek mazaak kar rahe the, misunderstanding thi jo suljh jaati... par yeh toh hadd hai!"
[What has happened to Swayam? How did you think of all this? You and Rishiji were just having a joke, this was a misunderstanding which was resolved...But this is too much!]
She pulled Taani into a comforting hug, letting her cry into her shoulder.
"Crying won't help, You have to be strong for yourself.Aaj tumhari shaadi hai, aur tumhe is waqt apne dard ko thoda piche rakhna padega. Yeh misunderstandings sulajh jaayengi... lekin tum abhi apne aur Rey par focus karo."
[Today is your wedding, and this is the time for you to keep your pain behind you. These misunderstandings will be resolved...but right now you focus on yourself and Rey.]
Taani pulled back, wiping her tears, though her heart still ached with Swayam's harsh words.
"But Taaiji, whatever bhai said... it is not so easy to forget."
