It was another beautiful day in the peaceful Kingdom of Starliana. Rain or shine, sleet or snow, industry prevailed throughout the land. Every citizen from simple farmer to lawmaking politician had their role to play in furthering the dynasty's continued success. Happiness and prosperity were brought about by the collective persistence, perseverance, and persperation of everyone.
There was quite a LOT of perspiration, actually.
A young, bespectacled advisor urgently dashed into the office of Queen Janine. "Your Majesty! We have a problem; the people are revolting!"
"WHAT?!" The noble queen gasped; alarmed with concern for her beloved people. "What have I done to upset them? Do they not like the new Dedicated Cart & Carriage Lane ordinance? Surely they can understand it's for everyone's safety?"
The consultant corrected that it was unrelated to her recent statute on road risks.
"No, no, no, Your Highness, not that kind of revolting." He paused and peered downward, as if trying to collect his thoughts. "There's a hygiene issue that's gotten wildly out of control in the Altair region."
From there, he went on to explain; due to a constant stream of heavy rain in the province, many of the citizens were unable to effectively clean and dry their laundry. What was worse was those who did physically demanding labor would have to continuously work in their still-damp clothing. The discomfort of every individual was cause for concern on its own, but the greater worry was the health of everyone figuratively marinating in such filth.
Looking out of her floor-to-ceiling windows, the sheer power of suggestion caused the matriarch to see a cloud of filth hovering over all of her land. Even though Altair wasn't within sight, she feared such a problem escalating further beyond. Without a moment of hesitation, she readily presented a solution to their dilemma.
"Everyone deserves to come home to a hot bath, and I'm going to see to it that every single home in Starliana has one, starting with Altair."
The bureaucrat chuckled sheepishly. "Ahahehe. With all due respect, Your Majesty, do you know how much money such an endeavor would cost?"
"Yes I do." She answered right away, raising her hand to stop him from reaching for a handheld abacus tucked in his belt. "I'm well aware of how much money is in the treasury, and there's more than enough for the materials and labor to make it happen."
There wouldn't be any arguing with her as she was in fact, completely right about their excess finances. There was one detail she did fail to neglect though.
"Yes, My Queen, sorry, My Queen, but there's the issue of time. We won't be able to complete such a project when the people need a solution soon."
Tapping her finger on her chin, Janine heavily considered every facet of their conundrum. There had to be something somewhere in the kingdom that could facilitate such a demand on such short notice.
Then it dawned on her. "Wait, correct me if Im wrong, but isn't there an old bathhouse in that region?"
The advisor gasped in surprise. Such a space did exist, but he bit his teeth after registering the thought in his head. "It does, but Your Highness, that building is hundreds of years old, and it's been abandoned since--"
"-That's perfect then." Janine interrupted with a snap of her fingers. "We'll renovate it and open it up for everyone to use!"
Though hopeful, the royal hadn't a clue as to the actual state of the property. Unshakable faith in Starliana's engineering made her believe it could be restored to working order easily. There was no doubt in their mind a little tender loving care would bring the historic sight to its former glory.
