I watch as the steam swirls up and around my face as I pour it into the cup. The steam feels relaxing over my tired eyes. My eyes flicker to the clock across the room. I should have been dressed and ready for my lecture by now, but instead I'm attempting to mend my heart along with Luke.
I carry the white cups to the small rectangular coffee table and set them down as Luke pushes his messy, curly hair from his face. His large hands clasp the cup tightly. They aren't as big as his and they look softer and not as calloused, unlike his that were worn from fights and drumsticks. I shiver as I remember the bruises and cuts along his knuckles that night. It was the first time since I met him I could remember that I didn't clean and bandage them.
Luke pulls his cup from his lips and asks, "So what was the promise?"
Looking down into my cup of tea I reply, "Well I suppose I'd have to explain the next couple of weeks after we were blackmailed first."
He nods and I take a breathe and transport myself back into my memories.
-two years ago-
The walk to the dining hall seemed long and tiresome compared to normal. I knew each step lead me closer to dealing with the mess Esther and I created last night. I stopped at the door and scanned the room looking for one of the boys. Luckily, the dirty blonde hair combed back with a little too much gel, that could only be Ronnie, immediately caught my attention.
Sighing, I trudged over there accepting the consequences to my actions. There were only two seats left between Michael and Calum. I silently debated for a moment before choosing the seat next to Calum seeing he was the friendliest out of the two. Ronnie looked up with a bright smile that I politely returned. Michael, Calum and Ashton's hair was tousled and their eyes blood shot from lack of sleep. I knew they looked as tired as I felt, but seeing it was a Saturday I thankfully didn't have to worry about falling asleep in any classes.
"Where is Esther?" Ronnie asked glancing around the room looking for her.
"She's finishing getting ready. She refuses to look bad in front of people," I reply. Esther never really looked bad, but she insisted on looking nothing less than perfection always.
"Well, I suppose you can just fill her in later," he cleared his throat and continued, "Here is what we will do. We will all eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together-,"
I stop him there, "I don't eat breakfast and Esther rarely eats dinner."
Ronnie looked taken aback at this, but shrugged, "Fine, we'll all eat lunch together everyday."
"Monday's, Wednesday, and Thursdays," Michael countered. Ronnie shook his head and laced his hands together his blue button up pulling up at his wrist revealing his expensive watch.
"We are not compromising on this Michael, my boy," Ronnie chuckled.
"Don't ever call me that again or I swear to god I will-,"
"Just let it go man. It's too early for this," Calum yawned rubbing his tired eyes. Michael mumbled something under his breath, but stayed quiet. Ronnie looked smugly at him before continuing.
"Any way Elli, Esther and you will walk me to my morning class. You will carry my books while Esther is on my arm."
I sighed and shook my head, "Sure."
Ashton chuckled at this and I simply ignored him. He was in this situation too, so he has no room to laugh.
Ronnie continued, "And finally, we will all attend the Spring Dance together. Each of you will have a date. I want an entourage."
