the city outside was a shimmering tapestry of lights, but inside clementine's apartment, darkness enveloped her like an old, worn-out coat. shadows danced across the walls, distorted figures conjured by the flickering glow of a single lamp, its light barely cutting through the heavy air. the faint hum of traffic echoed in the distance, a reminder that life continued outside, indifferent to her pain. she sat huddled on her worn couch, cradling her guitar in her lap like a lifeline. the familiar weight of it pressed into her, a comforting presence in a world that felt so unsettled.

taking a deep breath, she strummed a single chord, letting the sound resonate into the quiet night. it echoed through the room, hollow yet beautiful, mirroring the ache in her chest. as she played, the melody flowed from her fingers, a sad yet powerful expression of the turmoil swirling within her. each note poured out her pain, crafting a bittersweet symphony that spoke of heartbreak and loss.

tears streamed down her cheeks, each drop a testament to the emotions she couldn't articulate with words. memories of her relationship with callum flitted through her mind like flickering candlelight—laughter shared over takeout dinners, stolen kisses under the stars, whispered secrets that now echoed hollowly in the void he left behind. how had something so beautiful turned into this overwhelming despair?
