Anthony pulled out his laptop on the table to check on the funds and sees that the money's been transferred and he smiles. Then, Danny walks in and he notices the body language he carried.
"Oh! Good news, the money's all transferred. Vega's empire is about to crumble, and we've got everything we need." He says as Danny sits on the couch across from him.
"You know he's not gonna let this go. You saw the look in his eyes, he'll come after us." Danny says.
"Let's just hope nobody saw you with his girlfriend at the cabana earlier, how you holding up?" Anthony nods his head upward
"She didn't buy it." He shakes his head "She took the necklace and that was it." Danny sighs in disappointment.
"Hey." Anthony grabs his friend's attention. "We'll get her back, alright? Just gonna take more time than we thought." He reassured him. "and as for Vega? Let him try. By the time he realizes what's happened, we'll be long gone. We planned for this, it's part of the game." Anthony continued.
Danny's jaw clenched. "You planned for everything, but you didn't account for us almost getting killed last night."
"You're blaming me for last night?" Anthony asked "It was close, but we pulled it off."
Danny stands up out of frustration. "Yeah, this time. But what about next time? How many more risks are we going to take before one of us doesn't walk away?"
Anthony leaned back in his chair, folding his arms. "That's the job. You've known that since day one when we started this shit."
He wasn't lying.
"The fuck is wrong with you? Hmm?" Anthony squinted his eyes "Is it her? You've never acted like this before." He questions about Kaylie. "If you're out D? Then say it. But don't stand here and act like you didn't know what this fuckin' life is about! Wake up! We're con artists! This is what we do!"
"... I need some air," Danny muttered, turning towards the door. The anger softened, but only slightly. "I'll be back."
He walked out, the door closing behind him with a heavy thud. Anthony watched from across the room, his expression unreadable, but there was a flicker of something- concern, maybe, or frustration.
Danny stepped out into the cool breeze, the city of Barcelona stretching out before him. He stood on the balcony of the hideout, leaning against the railing as he took a deep breath, trying to steady the storm that had been raging inside him since the moment they had escaped Vega's estate.
He had always known this life was dangerous. He had always accepted the risks, but today was different. Today, for the first time, he had felt the weight of it all. The consequences of what they were doing, the price they might eventually have to pay. And the thought of Kaylie enters his mind.
Kaylie.
His thoughts of when they were in New York, when he and Anthony taught her their tricks and tactics, the night they found her in that restaurant with the man's wallet. He felt something for her, deeper than just the thrill of the con.
As Anthony opens the door behind him, he stands next to his friend in silence as the wind blows past them, the soft breeze making their clothes move in unison.
"You Love her don't you?" Anthony breaks the silence and Danny nods his head. "That's good that you love her. Really." He admits, causing Danny to look at him. "What? I'm not heartless."
"So-"
Just then, there's a knock on the door. The two men look at each other and dart back inside the hideout. Grabbing their guns, they quickly shuffled towards the front door and Danny looks through the peephole to see who it was ... It was Kaylie.
"What?" Anthony asked
"It's her."
