Danny watched on as Vega's security guards weaved through the crowd, their sharp eyes scanning for sign of trouble. The festive mood of the evening was still intact, but beneath the surface, he could feel the shift; They were closing in.
He tried to stay calm, just as he was trained, but every instinct screamed that something had gone horribly wrong. Danny's eyes dart to the door Anthony had disappeared minutes ago; this wasn't part of the plan.
"Supes, I'm working on a distraction. We're not out yet." Danny says in a low, but controlled voice.
He forces himself to smile and nod as another guest passed by with a casual nod. He could feel Vega's presence, somewhere beyond the shimmering crowd, and he knew they had minutes, maybe less, before things got ugly.
"Danny." Anthony's voice cut through the silence in his partner's ear, his tone steady but urgent. "I've got the money, I'm transferring now. Be ready to move in sixty seconds."
"I've got an exit plan, but you're not gonna like it." Danny admits.
Anthony didn't need to hear the details. He already knew, through experience, that whatever Danny was cooking up would probably involve something loud and messy. Subtlety was always Anthony's game, but when things got rough, Danny was the one who knew how to improvise the most out of the two.
Danny caught sight of the lead security officer again, standing near the entrance and giving instructions to his men. They hadn't sound the alarm yet, but that meant they were still searching for their suspects. They didn't know who to grab. Not yet.
"Fifteen seconds." Anthony's voice came through "Get outta sight, I'll meet you at the gardens."
"Leaving so soon?" Vega asked, his voice smooth but tinged with something more dangerous. "The night's just getting started Bruce."
"Bruce" chuckles at Vega's words.
"I was just getting some air, that's all. My business partner, Clark & I, are gonna be very busy this week." He smiles as Anthony walked up with a brief case. "Speak of the devil, he's here."
Vega turns to look at "Clark".
"You must be the business partner." He says to Anthony
"Indeed I am." Anthony smiles and shakes his hand. "Hello Mr. Vega, I'm Clark."
"Bruce and Clark, eh? The Batman and Superman of Barcelona." Vega chuckles as the two men join in on the laughter.
"Honey?" Kaylie stepped in and Alejandro turns to look at her.
"Excuse me gentlemen, duty calls." He smirks at Danny "You two enjoy the party."
The two cons go to the back of the ballroom, once again using Kaylie as a means of a way out. Standing close to a heavy set of heavy velvet curtains as Anthony could see the tension in Danny's jaw; he was ready for a fight.
"They're onto us, but they don't know who yet. That's the only thing keeping us alive." Danny says to his partner.
"You're right ... What's the exit plan?" Anthony asked, though he could already guess.
Danny glanced toward the far end of the ballroom, where the security team was growing thicker by the minute.
"Fire alarms;" he said with a wry smile. "We'll have a minute or two of chaos to slip out before they figure out what's really going on."
