What?!
Thank God Lissa quickly clamped my mouth shut before anyone heard me. The moonlight tonight was very bright and then, I remembered a verse in the bible that said,"for we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose."
HALLELUJAH!
A few minutes to midnight, we heard some footsteps and I could feel Lissa and Tony's body stiffen beside me as we saw a man walk briskly up the street, towards the wierd house and he opened the padlock to the front door and walked into the house, leaving the door slightly opened. He seemed in a hurry. Although, i didn't see the man's face properly, I had a feeling he was the same man I saw that day.
3:45am...
Lissa signaled for me to keep shut as tried to see what else was going on. We stayed for a while, waiting to see if anything was happening. Waiting to hear for sounds; just anything. Tony stood up and stealthily walked up towards the house. I followed behind him, with Lissa by me. Tony entered the house first and we followed quietly behind me and shut the door- just as it was before. The hallway was dimly lit and the room felt oddly warm and...homey.
We hid beneath the staircase as there were a few other men about the place, standing at the door to different rooms. They seemed like guards, with the way they looked hefty and tough. There was a door, right beside the staircase where we hid and we saw a man walk towards it. Lissa looked surprised and scared at the same time while Tony looked alert and focused. I was praying silently in my heart because, I had a feeling that if we were caught, bad things were gonna happen. I began to recite Psalm 23 in my heart to cast fear out of my heart. The man knocked twice and a loud, deep voice was heard from behind the door.
"Who's that?" The voice asked.
"It's Lucian." He replied. The door opened and a man popped his head out, asking the other guy- Lucian what he wanted.
"The Master doesn't want to see anyone now. What do you want?"
Master? Who on earth is that?
"The girl is here." Lucian said simply, his voice deep and husky. The man stepped aside to let him in. Few minutes later, he came out and returned with someone.
Who's she?
I'm sure my mouth dropped open in shock as I saw Dany walk into the room with Lucian. I remember saying that the place was dimly lit but trust me, if you've had a close friend for years, you'd even recognize their shadow.I wanted to say something but I knew I couldn't so I kept quiet and fought the urge to barge into the room and demand what Dany was doing here. I looked at Tony who looked confused and tired.
Did he recognize her too?
While Lissa had already dozed off, with her head on my shoulder. Good thing our hiding place was a bit big because by now, I was sure my body would have begun to hurt badly. We heard faint voices from the room but I couldn't make out anything they said.
As if Tony read my mind, he crawled out from where we hid and he put his ear on the door. I saw him struggle but I'm sure he knew nothing about eavesdropping. I just prayed he would be able to get something meaningful for us to work with. They were in there for quite a while and Tony began to doze off and I snapped my fingers at him signalled to him to come back."Look, I think we should go back home now. It's almost daybreak." I said, looking at my wristwatch as Tony nodded sleepily.
I led the way as we crept out of there and as soon as we stepped outside, Lissa tripped and a scream escaped from her mouth.
"Hey! Who's there?!" A man shouted from inside the house and the next thing we heard were footsteps!
"Run!" Tony said, as I held Lissa by the arm since she was limping.
We quickly hid behind the hedges, as a man rushed out of the house, flashing his torch light around wildly. He seemed scared and angry at the same time. He looked around for a while, hit his head as he turned to enter the house and cussed angrily before going in.Whoa! What a day!
