TW⚠️: none. Just fluff. And detective shiiii-

Y/n pov

I opened my eyes slowly, groaning quietly. Glancing at the clock on the nightstand, I huffed, frustrated. It was 1:30. In the freaking morning. Whyyyyyyy did I have to wake up?! I shifted in the bed, and it's only then that I realized Heizou was still holding on to my waist from behind. I froze immediately.

Was he still asleep?
Yes. Good. I didn't want to wake him.
But I needed to pee.

Dang it, not now!

As carefully as I could, I tried to wriggle out of Heizous arms. He had his hands clasped together around my stomach. Dang it! I cursed my clumsiness as I slowly wiggled downwards to get out of his arms.

Heizou groaned and shifted slightly. I held my breath. Please don't wake up-
And he continued to breath calmly and softly. I sighed.

Eventually making it out of his warm and comforting hold, I slipped off to the bathroom, turning on only little lamps along the hallway of our house.

I did my business, all the while thinking how lucky I am to have Heizou to love. Cliche, I know, but I just couldn't believe it.

"Baby?" Heizous tired voice called gently down the hallway. "Heizou- I'm so sorry I woke you! I had to pee." I explained quickly, falling into his waiting arms. His bare chest vibrated with his chuckle, holding me close to his warm body.

"Don't apologize, darling. I had to make sure you were ok."
My heart fluttered as he said this, planting a kiss on my forehead. (We are the same height)

"Besides, now I can fall asleep next to you again. It's a plus for me. Let's get to bed, darling. Come on."

Once we got settled back down, he wrapped his arms around me again and nuzzled his face into my shoulder. I knew just then that I would not fall asleep. Gosh dang it.

Heizous breathing was deep and slow, signaling that he had already fallen asleep. I tapped the pad of my finger against my thigh impatiently, waiting for me to fall asleep.

After an hour, I growled in frustration. I just couldn't get to sleep!
With frustration burning in my veins, I wriggled out of Heizous grasp again. He woke up immediately this time.

"Darling? What's wrong?"
"Can't sleep. Gonna go spar."
"No~ no no no. Come back here. I'll read you a bedtime story."
My ears perked up at this.
"What?"
"You heard me. I'll read you a bedtime story."
"Which one?"
"Anything. Just lay back down."

His arms were open and inviting. I glanced at the door to the bedroom and then back to him indecisively.
"Come here. Come back to me."

I sighed in defeat and cuddled back up to his chest as he grabbed a book from the nightstand. He opened the book and began to read:

"In ancient times, Liyue was a place of misery where the shadow of evil loomed large. As slain gods festered, their vengeful wrath cursed the world, manifesting in infernal forms. When demons stirred, Miasmis, monsters and mutations infested the land. Then Rex Lapis summoned the Yakshas to vanquish the demons. They swore an oath: Restore order through slaughter, purge evil through battle. To this we dedicate our lives-"

"That's not a Book! Zhongli gave me that piece of paper with the story of Xiao!" I realized suddenly, and Heizou just laughed.

"Yes, I'm reading off a parchment. Beautiful handwriting I may say so myself."
I knew that Heizou knew something just from the parchment. His detective skills were so good, that even if I wanted to cheat, I wouldn't go long without him finding out.

"Sorry. Please continue!"

"Eons of bloodshed later, Karmic dept weighed upon a them phantom wrath seeping into their broken souls. They went mad with fear, turned in each other, or succumbed to the darkness. Of the five formost Yakshas, death came to three, while the fourth vanished without a trace. In the milenia since, one Conquerer of demons remains the sole surviving Yaksha in the mortal realm. And only on moonlight nights, in the glow from Guyun and the sound of the Dihua flute, is his memory preserved."

Heizou pov;
They fell asleep before the story finished, snoring gently against my chest.
I slowly closed the book and set it down on the nightstand. With my detective eyes I had picked up something..... strange about the parchment. It had some sort elemental energy about it that was- how do I put it?- old. The parchment was newly written, but it was written by someone who was there when this all happened. An archon. The geo archon.

The realization hit me like a train, running me over. Zhongli- the guy who Y/n said wrote this- is the geo archon.

"Damn."
