Gn Reader 💝TW ⚠️: Xiao thinking he has to be taller
(Also not proofread)This one was inspired by the picture below.
"Hey Verr! I'm heading out!"
I called to the secretary of the Inn happily. She smiled and waved, wishing me a fare well.
Skipping down the stairs, I smiled at the beautiful scenery past the guard railing. It was a clear, warm day, the sky as blue as can be, with a few small whispy clouds dotted here and there. A soft breeze tickled my cheeks and ruffled my hair.
I laughed out loud, my heart soaring with the freedom and happiness that I always felt when in the Inn.
I wondered where Xiao was. The Adeptus had left our shared room early in the morning, saying he had a surprise for me. He didn't return soon, so I decided to get ready for the day.
I was suppose to meet Zhongli and Childe in Liyue. Zhongli said that Childe had 'an interesting offer that you can't refuse'. My guess was something to do with the Fatui. I mean, why else would the eleventh Harbinger want to meet me, if it wasn't anything related to shopping or fighting?
I was very powerful for a mortal- at least I think. My Y/V/T (Your vision type) was a powerful asset in fighting, and I had complete elemental mastery over it. I had even defeated Childe once while sparring. He moped around for a week afterwards until I felt bad, asked him to spar, and purposely let him win.
I came back with bruises that day, and Xiao was furious. He had never approved of Childe or our sparring sessions, but he knew that he couldn't- and wouldn't- stop me if I wanted to go.
Xiao was such a sweet guy. Once you get past his cold hearted facade. Only Verr Goldet, Zhongli and I had seen the soft side of the teal haired Adeptus. I personally liked the soft side more than his facade, and I mentioned it once. He blushed and buried his head into my shoulder, hiding his face for the rest of the evening.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I realized I was still leaning over the railing, just staring at the beautiful scenery. I cringed inwardly as I mentally heard my mom many years before, yelling at me to get away from the railing before I fall.
With a smile on my face at the memory, I glanced around, noticing a tall man watching me. He was too far away to make out his eyes, but I could make out what he was wearing and a few other features.
He has dark medium-length hair with teal undertones and pale skin.He beckoned for me to approach him. I slowly made my way to his side, taking in his appearance cautiously.
He had a white sleeveless shirt with subtle cloud patterns on. It has a high black collar with golden accents, with its left side extending further to cover his shoulder. With additional baggy dark purple pants, and dark purple boots overtop, he looked exactly like Xiao.
"It can't be him." I murmured to myself, slowly getting closer. It can't be Xiao. Xiao was 5'2". This man was at least 6'1". But his clothes were just like Xiao! And his spear was the exact same-
I was right next to him now, and he looked down at me.I then met his eyes. He had red eyeshadow just above the piercing golden irises with avian pupils.
"Xiao?!?" I exclaimed, stumbling back. This was the Adeptus. There was no doubt about the eyes I fell in love with.
"Y/n." Is all he muttered. I stared at him, complete in shock. I looked up at him. Up!
I've never looked up at Xiao before! We were the same height, so I always just looked straight ahead but now-"Why?!? Why would you change? How? What-?"
He took my hands in his as I freaked out. His hands were larger too. They made mine look small in comparison."I'm tired of humans treating me like a child. So I changed my mortal form."
"You can do that?! And I don't treat you like a child!"
"I never said you did."
"I- Xiao I don't- I'm not sure I like this new form- I mean you're handsome don't get me wrong, but I've-"He shushed me by kissing me. Or not kissing, but pecking my lips gently. If we were in public, that's the most I can expect from him. My hands snaked around his neck. His arms held me tightly around my waist.
"I thought you would like it. That's why I chose the same form as before, only bigger."
I bit my lip nervously as he spoke."Xiao, since when do you care what people think of you?"
He sighed before looking out at the scenery I was admiring just a minute before.
"Mortals assume- people think that we are related somehow by blood. I've heard humans thinking I'm your son or younger brother. And- and every time I notice you- change. You're quieter. Less open. It bothers you so I chang-"I hugged him tightly, cutting him off.
"You know that doesn't bother me as much as it seems. But if this new form makes you happy, by all means, keep it. I just want you to know that you don't have change for me- I love you if you are 5'2" or 6'1". I love you either way, baby."A rare smile flashed across his face, and he held my hand when I pulled away from the hug. "I love you." He whispered into my ear.
From someone else's perspective, it was just a random 'I love you' that you would use to say bye to your parents or any family member.
For Xiao to say it like that, though, was something different. It meant he would die for me. It meant he'd let the world burn down for me.
It meant I was safe. And I loved feeling safe.
