"Care to dance, m'lady?" I turned around to see Diluc offering his hand with a small bow. He was wearing a suit, and it complimented the already overly handsome man. "Why, yes of course my knight in shining armor!" I teased, taking his hand. He twirled me into the dance floor as my stomach immediately filled with butterflies. He was so handsome! How did I ever manage to make him fall in love with me? He took my left hand in his right, and I placed my right hand on his shoulder. His left hand held my waist and guided me through each step of the waltz that was playing. My heart pounded, and I tried to take a breath, but my corset restricted most of it.
Diluc knew exactly where to step, where to lead me, and he looked so graceful doing it. I matched his steps, and soon we were twirling and spinning around all the other dancers, being the most graceful there.
Kaeya and his partner stared at us, mouths and eyes wide, trying to copy us but failing miserably. Diluc spun me around again and again until I got so dizzy that he had to steady me before I fell down. The butterflies in my stomach did not go away, and my heart still ponded in my ears.
Moving left, then right, two steps forward, two steps back, repeat, twirl, repeat, twirl. Soon, we were the only ones on the golden dance floor, as everyone stepped off to watch us. All eyes were following us.
My dress spun all around me, creating a beautiful circle of black and gold. Diluc twirled me one final time before dropping me into a dip. We looked into each others eyes, panting heavily. The butterflies were more profound than ever now as I gazed into his eyes. I loved him so much. My corset restricted much of the panting, and I felt faint.
The audience clapped happily, and between Dilucs strong arms holding me, I could see Kaeya smirking at me. Seeing me watch him, he gave me a thumbs up. I blushed slightly.
"That was wonderful, love." Diluc complimented, making me blush harder, and the butterflies fluttered in my chest. "Thank you Diluc." I gasped breathlessly, glancing towards the door. He understood. Helping me out of the dip, he gently lead me towards the door to the balcony.
We passed Kaeya on the way with his partner who I didn't really like. "That was the worst performance I have ever seen. I could have done ten times better." She spat at me. I didn't even register what she said, instead focusing on my corset being way too tight for comfort. "Shut up Alina. She was amazing, just as she is beautiful." Kaeya snapped. I nodded to him, not wanting to say anything.
"Kaeya, control your girlfriends words, before she says something that might end up badly for her." Diluc warned, glaring daggers at Alina.
"Diiiiluuuc, whyyy are you with her when you could be with someone like me? She's weak, useless, ugly and she can't even dance! I am better at all those things."
"Yeah, especially the being ugly and weak part." I half gasped half snapped. Diluc smiled at me and lead me away. I could feel Alinas eyes stare daggers into my back, but I didn't care.
Diluc opened the door to the balcony, and a cool night breeze immediately greeted me. My heart was still pounding in my ears, and I tried to breath in, but my corset wouldn't let me. I clutched the balcony railing until my fingers turned white.
"Love? Are you alright?" Diluc asked after a while of silence. "Y-yeah, I-I'm fine!" I lied, swaying slightly, trying to take a deep breath.
"No you're not. Is it the corset?" I nodded vaguely. "Honey come here." I tried to obey, but couldn't bring myself to let go of the wooden railing. It felt as if I let go of the railing, I would faint. "D-Diluc." I gasped. He was by my side in an instant. "Just relax. I'll get the corset off." He quickly undid the laces at the back of my dress, and reached the laces of the corset.
His warm hands made quick work of its knots, he loosened it by a considerable amount, finally ripping it open. My chest heaved gratefully as my lungs could expand. I gasped and the air tasted so sweat, I laughed. "Is that better?" Diluc asked.
"Y-yes, thank you." He slowly knotted the laces I sich a way that I could breath freely. "How about that? You can still breath?" His fiery eyes looked into mine with concern and so much love. I could just nod. His hands slithered around my waist, coming to rest at my hips. "Thank you Diluc."
"I'll tell Adelinde to not make it so tight next time. You could've gotten hurt." He leaned down to kiss me. I leaned into the kiss, thankful that he was here at the right time and knew exactly what to do. I don't know what would've happened if I were alone
