Franco and Alaia bump into each other in the hotel corridor once again the next morning.
"Seems like this is how we're always going to be bumping into each other from now on," she says when she sees him, and Franco smiles. "How are you?"
"Good," he says, running his fingers through his hair. The two walk towards the elevators together. "You?"
"Good as well. How was the date with Lucia?" she asks. Franco swears she sees that twinkle in her eye dim a little when she says Lucia's name, and suddenly all he can think about is what Lucia told him.
I think she likes you quite a bit.
"It was alright. We talked a bit more about our careers, what we're interested in, you know... regular date stuff. But there's not going to be a third date, so I hope I'm not troubling you again when it comes to finding someone else."
There's no third date. Alaia's eyes widen slightly, and she fails to stop the corners of her lips quirking up into a faint smile, and she tried to hide it — but to no avail, Franco's noticed the expression on her face already. She seemed almost... excited, he thinks.
"Why did it not work out?" is what she says instead. Franco really does sometimes wish he could read Alaia's mind — she's an enigma that Franco wants nothing more to crack.
"We were looking for different things, and..." he trails off as he lets his eyes wander over her body. "Nothing."
Alaia notices his gaze. It's subtle, but it makes her feel as if her body's on fire — fucking hell, this man. It was absolutely ridiculous how one mere look could get her feeling this way, but Franco Colapinto had somehow changed her perception of quite literally everything she knew, so how surprised could she really be?
