Aurora dragged me back to my room, we talked for a while. She told me about her parents and how things were in their pack.
It still boggles my mind that all the packs joined together except for the one I grew up in. It's a little ironic honestly.
"I've only ever seen one other Thaumaturgic Ghoul before, but that was a long time ago. I might've been six at the time." She smiles softly at the memory, I let her talk about her life before the Clergy summoned her.
I'm still holding onto the bass, craving to play. It's like something inside me fell into place in that band room today. Like I was meant for music.
Aurora turns over in the beanbag, now looking at me upside down. "You hungry at all?"
My ear twitches and before I can answer her, my stomach growls. She giggles and I can feel my aura flush against my face, "Hehe, alright, I'll go make us something for dinner. You're lucky I'm a great cook!" She stands up with an exaggerated grin, we look at each other and after a moment of silence we both laugh.
"Alright, alright, I'm gonna make something for us. It'll probably be a little bit because I'm craving chicken and dumplings for some reason." She gets up and heads to my door, cracking it open, then waving to me as she leaves.
I think I've made my first ever friend besides my brother. It's so strange, yet so serene. I laugh a little at the thought.
Standing up, I stretch out my limbs and tail, thumping it against the floor slightly. I look through my CDs looking for something to play, after skimming through them for a bit I find the right one.
Before I pop the CD in, I grab my guitar and put the strap over my shoulder.
Once the CDs in I plop down on my bed, fiddling with the strings waiting for the song to start.
Humming along at first, I slowly strum to the beat of the song.
The bass compliments my voice as I start the second verse with my voice instead of a hum.
"I touch the place,
Where I'd find your face.
My fingers in creases,
Of distant dark places."While I sing along, my eyes are closed, keeping myself centered in the moment.
"I hang my coat up in the first bar,
There is no peace that I've fou-"That's when another voice joins me, my eyes fly open and my head snaps to my door, Swiss leaning against my doorway, singing to the song.
"The laugher penetrates my silence,
As drunken men find flaws in science." His voice draws out softly.I slowly start to play the bass to the beat again, my tail wrapping around one of my legs as I stand and start quietly singing again. Our voices sinking up.
"Their words mostly noises,
Ghosts with just voices.
Your words in my memory,
Are like music to me."He walks into my room, leaving the door open just a crack while still singing with me. I feel my face flushing.
"And miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground and I,
I pray that something picks me up.
And sets me down in your warm arms."We're walking around each other now, in slow circles while holding eye contact. I swear I see a sort of sparking in his beautiful hazel eyes...
"And after I have traveled so far,
We'd set the fire to the third bar.
We'd share each other like an island,
Until exhausted close our eyelids."Beautiful hazel eyes...
We're closer now, still moving in slow circles around each other. I take notice of details I hadn't noticed before. His hair is a short dark brown, his horns sharp, his tail slightly furred and the tail tip being a spade.
"And dreaming pick up from,
The last place we left off.
Your soft skin if weeping,
A joy you can't keep in."We slowly inch closer, I can tell he's searching my features just as much as I'm searching his. His aura is setting a silver blush across his face.
"And miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground and I,
I pray that something picks me you.
And sets me down in your warm arms."The feeling returns, the odd one I just can't place. It feels like my heart is going to pound out of my chest. I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand, my tail swooshes a little as it unwrapes from my leg.
"And miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground and I.
I pray that something picks me up.
And sets me down into your warm arms."We sing the last verse in a whisper, like our voices could shatter one another by being so close.
Swisses ear flicks when the song changes, he doesn't take his eyes off mine, and neither do I him.
I can't take it anymore, I have to ask him...
"Do you... Do you feel it too?" I whisper.
His eyes dilate a little at my question, I can sense his heartbeat. It's practically pounding out of his chest.
He opens his mouth, before he can speak I catch a glimpse of his fangs, a shudder runs down my back.
"I d-"
"Hey Clover, have you seen my phone?" My door swings open right away, my head snaps for a second time today.
I feel like a deer caught in headlights.
Aurora stands there, shocked at first, but then a giant smile spreads across her face.
"Oh never mind, I don't think it's in here." She backs out of my room and throws a thumbs up more towards Swiss than me.
His tail swooshes a little, seemingly in frustration. I back away from him a little bit after I realized just how close we got to one another while singing.
My face lights up brightly as I slowly walk backwards and sit on my bed.
Swiss rubs the back of his neck, his soft hazel eyes watch me as if he doesn't know what to say now.
"Sorry I came in without knocking, your door was cracked... And the song you were singing was a duet..." His silver blush crosses his face again
"It's alright." I respond in a quiet voice.
He looks over to my desk and notices my phone.
"Do you wanna share numbers?" He asks.
Shaking my head yes, I lean over and grab my phone.
He explains that he has to talk to Aether about something and he'll text me later. He ruffles my silver hair softly before leaving with an unknown look in his eyes.
I huff a little when my door clicks as it shuts fully this time.
Was he about to say that he does? He could've also been about to say he doesn't.
This is so frustrating.
So frustrating in fact, I can't seem to get hazel eyes and silver blushes out of my head for most of the night.
