When Leah met Alexia

The Match

Leah's PoV

As I sit in my cubby, putting my socks and boots on in my own little way, my own little ritual the way I feel will bring me all the luck in the world but deep down knowing that it's all in my head I feel content. If I can get through anything I know it will be with Lex by my side, I know deep down that she is my person, the person who will never hurt me not intentionally and I know that she wants us as much as I do.

"Okay girls so this match will show the world that we're not just a one trick pony. They may have won the World Cup last time but we're not going to let them beat us again are we" I say and the girls cheer.

"You're all individually talented and I want you to show the world what the talent you all have can do. I believe in you all and I'm glad I'm finally back with you all. I know we can do this so what do you all say....on three....one....two....three"

"Lionesses" we all shout and get up clapping and cheering. As I head out I take a deep breath. I got this I can be the best captain out there I just need to focus.

As we head for line up we're first to arrive the stadium is buzzing and the atmosphere sounds amazing to say it's just a friendly. Now I know the majority will be Spanish fans but I know the small amount of England fans that will be here we will give them a show.

Lexs PoV

After I have given the team the pep talk they need I sit back and kiss the picture of me and my father something I always do. That's when I hear Mapi.

"You ready cap?" She asks.

I nod.

"Born ready, you know we got this"

"Oh I know that. Just don't go easy on your girl"

I roll my eyes at her comment.

"I won't don't worry" I wink at her but yet deep in the back of my mind I know I will.

As we go to line up I see the England girls are already there I see the back of her and I can't help it but her arse in them white shorts..fuck.

As I walk past I subtly squeeze her hand before standing next to her. I turn and smile as she reciprocates it.

"Good luck out there captain may the best captain win" she winks at me causing me to blush.

"Same goes to you, don't take it easy on me" I smile

"Oh don't worry you won't be getting past us" she smirks.

"Is that so"

She nods and giggles.

"Head in the game cap" I hear Mapi shout.

"Getting me in trouble baby" I whisper.

"Always but we like to be naughty" she whispers back this making a small moan escape my lips causing Leah to laugh.

Leah's PoV

When I hear the small moan escape lexs lips I can't help but laugh but my god I want to be hearing more of that. Not long after the refs start to walk out and so do we.

"Let's go girls" I shout and the girls gear up as the crowd cheers as we walk out. It's a feeling I'll never get used too.

As we line up to sing the national anthem, then take our picture it's time for the coin toss and time to see my girl again.

As I stand and hand her my flag and she passes me hers our hands touch and I know she felt what I did.

"Okay England heads Spain tails" the ref says as she flips it, it lands on heads.

"Well keep our side" I say wanting Lex to have first kick.

"Fairwell, I want a nice clean game from both sides understood"

We both agree. As we shake hands to get in our positions we pull each other into a small hug I feel lexs hands on me and my god I wish we were home.

"Good luck baby" she says

"You too baby love you"

"Always" she responds. With that we jog to our places. Let's go.

No ones PoV

As Leah get into position she shouts for the girls to give them a boost and that's when the whistle blows. Spain get the game underway pushing hard and fast which catches the girls off guard but Leah has alexia marked but that's when alexia gets one up on Leah and nutmegs her. You can see the embarrassment in her face as she chases her down but it's too late and the ball is crossed and within a split second Mary is diving for the ball. Luckily she tips it over the net with her fingers. Spain gets a corner.

Leah's PoV

Is she fucking joking, I can't believe I let her nut meg me what an embarrassment in a way I'm pissed but I'll defo get one up in her. I watch as the ball goes out for a corner and I get in position. Lex behind me I bend over my hands in my knees as I wait for it to be delivered. I feel lexs hand on my back and I hear her blow her lips I know this has her thinking so hopefully it will knock her concentration a little.

No ones PoV

As the ball is delivered Leah jumps for the ball as it connects to her head she heads it away from goal. It lands at the feet of Kiera who starts a run forward and delivers the perfect ball over the defence into alessias path. Leah watches as she chips it into the right corner and off she sprints to celebrate.

As the match continues Lex gets the ball and dribbles passed many of the lionesses until she is confronted by a slide tackle from Leah. Perfectly timed to not clip Lex but to get back possession. That's when they exchange words.

"Great timing" Lex says

"Always, no more nutmegs" she smiles

"Deal" and with that they get in with the play.

The match finishes with the lionesses winning 2-1. Alexia scored for Spain and it was a belter of a goal from outside the box.

Leah's PoV

As the whistle blows each team go and shake hands that's when I see her, her eyes transfixed on me I make my way over and we embrace in a hug.

"Good game mi amor, you are the best captain" Lex winks.

"Shut it you, good game I think you need to make it up to me" I say Lex looks confused.

"I don't understand"

"You nut megged me."

"Oh that. Sorry. But how about a date tonight I'll show you round a little"

"Sounds perfect baby"

"Good now I have someone you need to meet"

I look at Lex confused.

"My mother le oh and alba" she smiles. That's when I see them jumping up and down waving.

"Let's go" I smile taking lexs hand in mine.
