When Leah met Alexia

Debut - part two

Lexs PoV

The warm up complete and it's time for me to change now I know I weren't going to play the full 90 and that's fine it's my first game so I change and get my warm coat on. As I'm about to head out with the other subs I stop at Leah and bend in front of her. I watch as she looks at me a small smile appearing on her face.

"Hey baby, you need to get out of your head, you know you got this and you know damn well this team has this. Now I want you to go out there and make everyone proud. Show them how your miss arsenal and get them warmed up for me" I wink at her and she smirks.

"Thank you baby, I'll see you soon. I love you"

"And I love you more" I lean up and kiss Leah a few of the girls giving us a cheer which makes us laugh.

As I head and sit with the others Beth on the bench aswell which surprises me but I don't mind. Me and Beth have gotten on well recently since Viv moved she is at our house a lot and it's like she's a third wheel the majority of the time but she's funny. Less is starting alongside Leah and I won't lie she has abit of my heart aswell. The way she speaks to us about alba I know she won't hurt her which is all I ever want for my baby sister.

As the teams walk out the crowd roars and the chants start which I love to hear. I see Leah blow a kiss to someone in the crowd and as I look I see her mum. Then I see them. My mother and alba, and she's holding nala I mean how the hell did she get a dog in here. I can't help but smile, I see her blow a kiss to less and less catches it and taps her badge.

As Kim goes for the coin toss I see Leah our eyes meet I point at my eye then my heart then her. Our way of saying I love you and she smiles hard. The whistle is blown, let's go.

Leah's PoV

I see lex do our little sign and it makes me smile hard and I'm pretty sure I blushed. I roll my neck and the whistle blows. Chelsea start and they kick a long ball up field a tactic they have of pushing us back further into defence but tonight I'm not going to let that happen. Steph gets the ball and kicks it to me, I see less open and pointing so I lob the ball over the heads and it lands just in front of less. She runs and we shout man on, she chips it left into the waiting line of frieda and she doesn't even stop she just kicks it but it hits off the cross bar. Fuck. Chelsea gain possession again and they pass around us, we look strong so I'm not complaining. Katie goes in for a tackle and miss times it. Yellow. Fuck sake. I look at her as the ref signals free kick.

"Play clean now we can't afford to lose you" I whisper.

"Got it sorry le" I tap her shoulder and wait in the box.

Anticipation runs through my veins as they deliver and it hits off the head of Ramirez and into the back of the net. Fuck. I look around and the girls have their heads down. I look at the bench and lex signals for me to chin up. I smile and then shout the support to the rest of the girls.

The match kicks off again, we push hard, harder than before and it pays off. We manage to get a corner and Katie takes it. We signal for it to go to the far post and as she does it curls perfectly into the top bin. Katie fucking scored and what a banger it was.

Lexs PoV

I watch as the girls celebrate Katie's goal I mean I've seen her do that once before for Ireland but I thought it was a fluke. I stand and cheer with Beth as the time ticks by the half time whistle is blown. As me and bath grab a bib and head to the pitch Renee tells us to get ready as we will be coming on 5 minutes into the second half. I grab a ball and do some kick ups getting into position. I kick it to Beth and she kicks it back we switch positions to get warm.

"You ready superstar" she shouts

"More than" I smile.

"Good I expect goals" she laughs.

"And some from you too" I smile.

Beth kicks the ball high and shouts "control" I know what she means and I run for it and jump in the air my left foot perfectly timed to stop the ball dead in front of me. Cheers. I hear cheers from the crowd. I smile and wave and they get louder.

"Looks like they love you already" she smiles.

"Well who wouldn't" I laugh.

As the break finishes me and Beth head to the sidelines and get ready. The coaches go through some plays with us and we know what we need to do. Substitutions are made and Beth goes on first then I follow. I follow to applauding not only from the fans but the arsenal girls too. I see Lucy, Millie, guro and Erin all smile as I enter the pitch and nod in a welcoming way.

"Vamos" I shout as the whistle blows and that's when I hear the chanting start.

"Alexia, Alexia, on the run! 
With skill and flair, she's second to none! 
Arsenal pride, hear the crowd roar, 
Alexia Putellas, we want more!"

I smile it's catchy and I will show them more. I see Katie get the ball she sees me and I make my run the ball landing to my side I control it with a quick heel flick and I dribble through the Chelsea defenders that's when I see Lucy coming to my side I glance and see Beth. I curl the ball right and Beth still running jumps mid air and heads it towards goal. Swoosh the net makes the noise we all wanted to hear and it's in. I instantly cheer my arms open wide and Beth leaping into them.

"That's what I'm talking about" she shouts.

"I got you" I say putting her down and returning to my position. Leah giving me a clap and a head nod which makes me laugh.

Again, we go again it's 2-1 and Chelsea are pushing like never before, tackles are made and cards are given. It's tough and we're on the 90th minute. The ref has signalled for 2 additional minutes. I need to score, I need to score for Leah. The ball is given to Leah she sees Beth and she passes it to her, perfectly. I run and shout "switch" Beth passes it a no look pass and I get it. I run I run as fast as my legs will take me I dribble and nutmeg Lucy, now just Millie. Fuck how do I, I have no one I'm alone. I'm a good 20 yards out. Kick it. That's what my brain is telling me. So I do. I leather the ball with all I have and it soars through the air. Past the keepers gloves.

"Gooooaaaaaaalllll" I hear the announcer.

I run to the corner tapping my arsenal badge the fans going crazy the girls jumping on my back I turn and Leah runs into my arms.

"That's my girl" she whispers in my ear.

"All for you baby" I whisper back. As we head back as soon as kick of starts again the full time whistle is blown. I did it. I helped arsenal beat Chelsea. I scored on my debut, I felt amazing and it was definitely something I wanted to get used too.
