Arjun's  POV

As Aryan left the room with his dad, I spotted Priyal, my best friend, peeking through the door's small window with that dark smirk. Oh no.

She slipped inside, crossing her arms

She slipped inside, crossing her arms. "Soooo... falling huh .... ?"

I groaned, running a hand through my hair. " Priyal, seriously?"

"Oh, I'm dead serious. That look on your face? It screams."

I tried to play it off. "He's just a patient."

She rolled her eyes. "Uh-huh. Keep telling yourself that, lets go ."

I couldn't even argue, I packed my stuffs and left hospital

At home

Lying in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about Aryan—his intense eyes, the way his smirk softened for just a second

Lying in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about Aryan—his intense eyes, the way his smirk softened for just a second. My heart raced every time I replayed our conversation. He's just a patient, I reminded myself, but who was I kidding? With a sigh, I finally drifted into sleep.

I waked up quiet late today, done my morning routine. While sipping my coffee, reviewing schedule and patients reports. I spotted Aryan's report

As I reviewed Aryan's reports, my heart dropped. 'Arrhythmia'. My pulse quickened as I stared at the test results in disbelief. How could someone so stubborn, so full of life, have something this serious? I swallowed hard, my mind racing. He was more than just a patient now

Arrhythmia - is an irregular heartbeat that can cause the heart to beat too fast, too slow, or with an irregular rhythm

At hospital

It's been a couple of week I meet Aryan and still a week remaining to see him sigh. Suddenly my phone rang it was my parents. After some time I ended their call, basically lecturing about to follow tradition and customs 'Dating is prohibited'

I rushed through the hospital hallways, my heart racing faster than usual, normally calm demeanor was nowhere to be found as I made my way to Room 312, where newest and most intriguing patient, Aryan, had been admitted just hours ago

I rushed through the hospital hallways, my heart racing faster than usual, normally calm demeanor was nowhere to be found as I made my way to Room 312, where newest and most intriguing patient, Aryan, had been admitted just hours ago.

He had suddenly fainted in his office earlier today. The sight of him collapsing had sent a wave of panic, something I hadn't felt in years. And now, I neared his room, my stomach churned with a mix of worry and something else—a feeling I wasn't quite ready to admit to myself.

I entered the room to find Aryan sitting up in bed, looking as irritated as ever, his arms crossed over his chest. Despite the fainting spell, he was still had usual stormy self, his icy glare directed towards me the moment I walked in.

"About time you showed up," Aryan grumbled. "I've been sitting here for hours, and no one's telling me anything."

I exhaled, trying to keep my professional demeanor intact. I had to push aside the strange fluttering in my chest every time he looked at me. "You fainted, Aryan. We needed to run some tests to make sure everything's ok."

Aryan rolled his eyes. "I'm fine. Probably just stress. You know how it is."

I raised an eyebrow. "You fainted, Stress doesn't make people pass out like that."

Aryan scoffed. "Clearly you've never worked in my office."

I couldn't help the small smile tugging at my lips. Despite his grumpiness, there was something irresistibly charming about him. His sharp attitude was almost... cute, in a way. But I couldn't let those thoughts cloud my judgment.

"Well, it could be more serious than stress," I said, trying to regain my professional tone. "So I'll need to keep you here for observation. Just to be safe." Aryan's frown deepened. "Great. I'm stuck in this place. Can't wait to be coddled by nurses and prodded with needles all day."

I smirked. "I'm sure they'll be gentle."

Aryan gave him a look. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

"Just a little," I admitted with a grin.

We stared at each other for a moment, and something shifted in the air between us. It was subtle, but I felt it—a quiet tension, a flicker of something more than just the usual banter we shared. he quickly looked away.

"So, any headaches? Dizziness?" I asked, pretending to check Aryan's chart to hide my growing unknown feelings

"So, any headaches? Dizziness?" I asked, pretending to check Aryan's chart to hide my growing unknown feelings.

Aryan shook his head. "Nope. Just embarrassed that I collapsed in front of everyone."

I chuckled. "Well, now you know how to make your way to hospital."

Aryan huffed, his lips curving slightly. "You're insufferable."

"That's what everyone says," I teased, my heart was lighter now. There was something about these little exchanges that made my day brighter, even if we were at each other's throats half the time.

The silence that followed felt different, though. I could feel Aryan's eyes on me, and when I dared to look up, our gazes locked again. For a moment, neither of us spoke. "You're staring, doc," Aryan muttered, though there was no bite in his tone. In fact, there was a softness to it that made my heart stumble.

I cleared my throat, feeling warmth rise to my cheeks. "Just making sure you're okay."

Aryan smirked, but it wasn't his usual sarcastic smile. It was softer, almost... affectionate. "Yeah, well. I'm fine. You can stop worrying now." "Not possible," I murmured, before I could stop myself. The words hung in the air between us, and he immediately regretted how vulnerable he sounded. Aryan's smirk faded, replaced by something quieter, more contemplative. He leaned back against the pillows, breaking eye contact. "You don't have to fuss over me, Arjun."

I wanted to say something—anything to break the sudden tension—but nothing came. We were both silent, the room filled only with the quiet hum of hospital machinery. It felt like we were standing on the edge of something, but neither of us was brave enough to take the plunge.

"Just rest, Aryan," I said softly, turning to leave. "I'll check on you later."

Before I could step out, Aryan's voice stopped him.

"Arjun," he said, his tone hesitant. "Thanks... for, you know, being here."

I paused, a smile tugging at the corner of my lips. I didn't turn around, but I knew Aryan was watching me.

"Anytime," I whispered, my heart pounding as I left the room, already looking forward to the next time our paths would cross.
