CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

Vi's PoV.

Motherfucker.
My blood boils and my breathing quickens.

"No Alex, don't do it. He's going to kill me anyway." I warn him.

Then he looks into my eyes, with an apology.

But Dan presses the gun to my head even harder.
"Do it, or she dies." Dan says in a sing song manner.

Alex drops his shoulder and he looks in my eyes.

Seeing a man kneel down for his wife, has to be the most heartbreaking thing for a wife to see and for a man to do in front of her. That's what I felt then. This man who swore to protect me. Who was my anchor. My friend and my enemy. Was now kneeling down on both his knees.

For me.

But I knew what I had to do in that moment. I've known since the first time we made eye contact.

Since Dan was distracted, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to take a hold of his gun and the situation turned 180 degrees as now I had him at gunpoint.

But I didn't see that. I saw red. Pure blood. His. Splattered everywhere.

I shoot his leg. Then the other on was he screams in pain. Then Alex comes up behind me, his breath as heavy as mine.

I'm just as shocked as he is.

"Why don't you kill me already?" Dan asks.

Just then Alex come up from behind me with a gun and says,

"Kill you? No. You not only hurt the woman I love, twice, but also made me kneel in front of her and beg for her life. I have worse thing than death and he'll waiting for you. I'll make sure you're in so much pain that you will beg me to end your life."

His voice was so cold, it was almost impossible to recognise it. It sent shivers down my spine.
Then Alex hits his head with his gun and the passes out.

But then it hit me.

The woman I love.

He just said that he loved me. Me.

He turns around to face me and I know that we don't have time for this but I kiss him. Intently. Desperately.
Like every second mattered.

Then I break apart the kiss and read Alex's confused look and say, completely sure of my words as the come out of my mouth.
"I love you, Alex. So much."

His expression totally changed. His eyes softened and his grip on me tightened.
"I love you too, my Chaos. More than you can imagine. I would do anything for you. Beg for you. Kill my own father for you. Die for you. Anything. " He says and my heart stills.

I swear I can't even breathe.

I still manage to get the words out of my mouth.
"Thank you."

"Don't." He says as we start walking towards the exit. He hands me the gun he took from Dan and we search the grounds. We need to find him.

Then Alex hears something in his coms.

"Find her then." He says over the device.

"What happened?" I ask as we carefully search. We don't see many of our men. Almost all disappeared.

Or died.

"Felicity escaped." He tells me.

I don't say anything. I somehow feel it's my fault that this happened. That I couldn't see through my own best friend.
